After four whole years that felt a lot like just one year, I have finally graduated college. I'll miss my little college town more than anything and I don't think I'm the only Bucknellian who is going to face a few withdrawal symptoms in the months ahead. Bucknell was my home for the past four years. Through laughter, heartbreak, all-nighters and lazy Sundays, I've learned that there are a few things I will miss more than anything.
1. The Campus
Anyone who has gone to Bucknell knows that our campus is absolutely beautiful. It basically looks like a campus from a movie. Nothing can ever beat sitting on the quad with your friends during a sunny day. It's wonderful and small enough that you don't need to drive, which means all your friends live less than a mile from you.
2. Bucknell Sunsets
Speaking of the beauty of our campus, nothing beats walking on the quad in the early evening and catching the sunset in all it's colorful glory. I think we can all agree that our Instagram feeds will be severely hurting without our constant pictures of sunsets.
3. The Gym
There's a certain nostalgia in walking up the steps in the gym and finding thousands of sorority girls on the elliptical. A free state-of-the-art gym for students use whenever they feel like it? A free sauna, with the only risk being running into the football team? I don't know if it gets much better than that.
4. 7th Street Milkshakes
Nothing better than leaving your elliptical work out and heading down to 7th Street for a milkshake. Sure it's counterproductive, but the milkshakes are worth the sacrifice.
5. House Party
Bucknell's determination to work hard and play harder is perhaps most evident in our House Party weekend. Sure, it was technically cancelled by the school, but that's never stopped the frats from pitching tents and hosting a great weekend full of supers. House party is the superest of Saturdays, and nothing beats the whole campus coming out to celebrate the weekend.
6. Trivia Night At Bull Run
Even though the commentary during trivia is borderline verbally abusive, trivia Tuesdays are perfect for seniors. Sharing a pitcher of beer with friends, coming up with a creatively vulgar team name, and potentially winning free swag make up for the fact that you'd have to be a Reddit junkie to get a perfect score on round four.
7. Super Saturdays
Tailgating? Not for Bucknell. While most schools have "dartys" for special occasions, Bucknell needs no excuse to throw down on a Saturday. You have to admit, your profile picture game will suffer a little bit without the constant sundress opportunity presented by supers.
8. Greek Life
Love it or hate it, it's a huge part of Bucknell's social scene. It might not be perfect, but it's impossible to picture Bucknell without it. We're all going to miss our respective sororities and fraternities to some degree post-grad, especially because half of our wardrobes consist of shirts and crafts that we can't really wear anymore.
9. The Flyson
Nacho tots. Need I say more?
10. Terrace Room
Pretending to be healthy by eating "real food" before eating ten tons of ice cream will never be quite the same when it doesn't happen in the beloved TRoom.
11. Lewisburg
Pretty reminiscent of Stars Hollow from "Gilmore Girls", Lewisburg quirky quaintness is one of the best parts of Bucknell. Lewisburg offers a lot for a small town in the middle of nowhere. Nothing beats breakfast at Cherry Alley or Amami, or bringing a bottle of wine to Sushihanna and topping the night off with the Freez. What am I going to do without the weird festivals and events that happen every year?
12. Abroad
Going abroad with Bucknell was an amazing experience that I'm already pretty used to missing, but let's just throw in how awesome it is to explore Europe with your friends one last time.
13. Domino's Pizza
I think it's safe to say we're all undecided if it's still OK to order cheesy bread at 3 a.m. post-grad life.
14. Professors
Love them or hate them, Bucknell has great teachers actually interested in teaching their students. Bucknell professors are hands on and most of them are pretty cool. Chances are you've been to the house of at least one of your professors and chances are even greater that you had a good time there.
15. The Squirrels
You know the squirrels are a big deal when they have their own Instagram account. The squirrels are more social than some of the students on campus, and in a weird way I think we'll all miss throwing something out in a trashcan only to have a squirrel carrying a piece of pizza leap out and make a mad dash for a tree. Sassy psycho squirrels, you will be missed.
16. Friends
This goes without saying. The people we've spent the past for years laughing, crying, studying and partying with are some of the most important people in the world. Nothing will ever compare to the fact that you and all of your closest friends all lived within walking distance of each other. I think that's what we'll miss the most.
