16 Of The Most Clever Women’s March Signs That You Need To See
Nicole Craine

On Saturday, January 21st, women all over the world united and marched on behalf of women’s rights. No matter where you stand politically, this is a time to band together and become stronger in the face of adversity. The violent protesting in this country needs to stop, because aggression will not change anything. But the Women’s March was not an act of violence; rather, it was a way for women to stand up for everything they’ve worked for, to fight back against patriarchal oppression, and to have their voices heard—loud and clear.

As a millennial feminist myself, I was sad that I was unable to attend the march in New York City (only 45 minutes from where I live), but I was there with my fellow females in spirit. I have many friends who marched in both NYC and Washington D.C., and I am beyond proud of all of them. I've enjoyed seeing all the pictures on social media, and I can't wait to see more to come!

This march was for us. We are women, we have rights, we are stronger than you know, and we demand to be heard. Here are a few of the thousands upon thousands of signs that deserve as much credit as the ladies holding them:

16. "Smash the patriarchy. Burn it to the ground."

The Kermit meme coming in clutch.

15. "I would call you a c*nt, but you lack both warmth and depth"

All the feels.

14. "Shed walls, DON'T build them"

Never be ashamed to shed your walls!

13. "The Handmaid's Tale is not an INSTRUCTION MANUAL!"

Take notes, America.

12. "The Fempire Strikes Back"

Because a woman's place is in the resistance!

11. "You're so vain, you probably think this march is about YOU"

See, last time we checked, this march was about the ladies. Not the sexist men, for a change. Also, this is a pun of a kickass song by Carly Simon. Go look it up.

10. "Straight outta vagina"

Let's get in touch with our roots and remember the physical place that every single human being on this earth came from.

9. "We are the granddaughters of the witches you weren't able to burn"

Feel the damn burn!

8. "America: This concerns me"

"I question the level of taste."

7. *Uterus gives the middle finger*

Keep your filthy hands off of our reproductive rights.

6. "Can't declaw this pussy"

No way, no how.

5. "Never again"

There are no words to describe the heaviness of this sign.

4. "Keep your rosaries off my ovaries"

Let's just keep these things separate, okay?

3. "My arms are tired from holding this sign since the 1960's"

I wasn't around back then, but my mother was. And she was a hippie girl who was all about equality, peace, and female rights. Don't forget that women have been facing these issues for FAR TOO MANY YEARS.

2. "Don't fashion me into a maiden that needs saving from a dragon. I AM THE DRAGON. And I will eat you whole."

Boys, don't ever forget it. All women are dragons.

1. "I *heart* naps, but I stay woke"

Stay woke, America. Women just wanna have fun...damental human rights.

Our rights aren't up for grabs—and neither are we.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
