16 Movies From Your Childhood That You Probably Forgot About

From the ones that would play on Disney channel around 8 o'clock every night, to the ones that you would gleefully watch with your besties during sleepovers, there are endless amounts of movies that ultimately define your childhood. So much so, that over the years, many have unfortunately fallen through the cracks. But nothing to fear! Here are 20 childhood movies that are worth the rewatch. (Warning: prepare yourself for major feels and possibly an all-nighter.)

1. "Big Fat Liar" (2002)

Jason Shepherd (played by the young adorb Frankie Muniz) sets off with his bestie Kaylee (Amanda Bynes) to prove that the sleazy Hollywood producer Marty Wolf stole his class paper and turned it into a Blockbuster movie. When we were kids, it taught us the valuable lesson that liars indeed always get theirs, and that "the truth isn't overrated." Also, every time you hear "Hungry Like the Wolf" you'll probably think of this timeless movie.

2. "Little Manhattan" (2005)

If you think Josh Hutcherson is adorable now, you neeeeeed to see him playing a 10-year-old boy who's experiencing love for the first time ever. He plays Gabe, a 6th grader living in NYC, and tells the story of love from a perspective we definitely need to hear. It's probably a more valuable movie now then it was when we were younger. Worth the rewatch!

3. "The Sandlot" (1993)

Even if you're not crazy about baseball, this one is timeless. Scotty Smalls just moved to a new neighborhood and struggles to be accepted by a group of kids who play baseball at the sandlot. They go through a series of adventures but when Smalls borrows a ball from his stepdad (signed by Babe Ruth) and hits it over the fence, they run into trouble and meet (cue music) the Beast. There will never be a wrong time for this one.

4. "Max Keeble's Big Move" (2001)

I don't know if it was because I had the biggest crush on Max or because of the storyline that was gold, but my five-year-old-self was obsessed with this movie. Max Keeble is the victim of his seventh-grade class as he gets bullied back and forth. When he finds out his family is moving, he decides to plot revenge on anyone who's ever done him wrong. All is well until plans change and he doesn't end up moving- the biggest backfire of all time. A plus to this movie is that Max's best friend is young Josh Peck, who is nicknamed "Robe" because that's his outfit of choice every day. Iconic.

5. "The Color Of Friendship" (2000)

When Mahree, a white South African teen decides to live with Piper, a black American teen in the states through a study abroad program, both Mahree and Piper are surprised to find out that they are of opposite races. They both have preconceived notions about their races, but in the end, they realize the truth of the color of friendship. It's one of the most real Disney movies out there.

6. "Matilda" (1996)

Over twenty years later, this movie is still as magical. The story centers around a little girl named Matilda, who's shown to be different from the day she is born. Not only is she a genius, but she's so amazing that she uses telekinesis. (Not like Carrie; don't worry.) With these "powers," she manages to stand up for herself to her wacky parents and her abusive school principal, Miss Trunchbull. The movie remains valuable today by embracing the idea that everyone is special in their own way and intelligence is never a bad thing.

7. "Freaky Friday" (2003)

My favorite Lindsay Lohan stage- (other than The Parent Trap of course.) This movie centers around the rebellious teenager Anna and her full-time working mom Tess Coleman, (Jamie Lee Curtis.) They haven't been getting along quite well, and all because of one freaky fortune cookie, they switch bodies and are forced to live in the opposite shoes- quite literally. While being hilarious, it shows the importance of lo

8. "John Tucker Must Die" (2006)

If you haven't seen this iconic chick flick, you are seriously missing out. It hilariously depicts the revelation that 3 girls are dating the same beautiful, big shot basketball player, John Tucker. They then decide to get even with him by recruiting new girl Kate. Easily, this is a classic that will never get old. It's the epitome of all flicks revolving around love triangles and the player guy that usually stirs it up. Perfect for any slumber party with your best girlfriends and some pizza!

9. "Model Behavior" (2000)

Janine and Alex are both two teens living different lives. Alex is a high school student who aspires to be a fashion designer, and Janine is a teen model celebrity. When they coincidentally meet in a bathroom, they realize how identical they look and decide to switch lives. Brownie points of this movie: Young Justin Timberlake is the main love interest!

10. "The Phantom of the Megaplex" (2000)

This thriller is about a phantom haunting a movie theatre- and tells the story of the teen workers trying to solve the mystery. When you think about the concept and storyline, it could easily be an actual horror movie- yet Disney made this a kids' movie. I don't know about the rest of you but this movie TERRIFIED my baby-self. It definitely sparked my love for thriller movies, (with my fear of masks.)

11. "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" (2003)

Ok let's be real, no one can forget this iconic movie. The awkward clumsy Lizzie McGuire that we all love and highly relate to (speaking on my behalf,) goes to study abroad in Rome. Here, she lives her dream and breaks away from her corky self to bloom into the butterfly we always knew she was- all from making a wish at the Trevi Fountain! This is what dreams are made of!

12. "Splash" (1984)

The modern day The Little Mermaid! When a young boy (Tom Hank's character) falls into the ocean, a mermaid saves him. Years later, the same thing happens and he's reunited with her once more, only he doesn't know she's a mermaid quite yet. It's a classic! I don't know what it says about my family that this was a movie of my childhood, but either way you should watch it.(Rumor has it a remake is in the works with Channing Tatum as the mermaid.)

13. "Smart House" (1999)

This movie revolves around teenager Ben, who wins a computerized house for him and his sister and father. This was of course much before the iPhone era we're in now, so this movie was absolutely unreal. I give it about five years until houses like these actually exist (if they don't already.)

14. "The Spongebob Squarepants Movie" (2004)

If you actually forgot this icon of a movie, from the bottom of my heart I feel very sorry for you. I make references from this movie at least three times a day. The sponge that we all know and love goes on a mission to save Mr. Krabs, and ultimately Bikini Bottom. There's never a wrong time for this gem- (about to rewatch right now.)

15. "The Even Stevens Movie" (2003)

Just like The Even Stevens series, this movie was absolutely golden. Petition to bring back this show? The humor is absolutely crazy and young Shia LaBeouf will probably make you pee your pants. From the appearance, the Stevens family wins an all expense vacation, but it absolutely hits the fan and turns into a nightmare- little do they know it's all a sham for a television show. 10/10 recommend.

There you have it! I hope you enjoyed all of these throwbacks! Get the popcorn ready and don't lose too much sleep ~ :)

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
