Whether you're already back at school or still awaiting move-in day, the start of a new semester always has college students leaving home with independence on the brain. Too often, however, the harsh realities of going back to school are overlooked by overzealous students looking forward to college shenanigans:

1. Actually moving in SUCKS.

There's nothing pleasant about dragging heavy furniture left and right all day long.

2. Campus police don't play around the first few weeks.

Don't even test them if you want to stay at least somewhat on their good side.

3. Your course load is going to hit you like a brick wall.

When you least expect it, expect it.

4. The food isn't as great as you remember it being (even if it is free.)

It definitely isn't Mom's home-cooking.

5. Some freshman will set off the fire alarms at some point.

PLEASE, JUST ADD WATER.

6. Parking on campus will be an all out war.

It's every man, woman and child for themselves.

7. Stress levels are not only immeasurable but unimaginable.

Our mental health is suffering as a result.

8. Making money, passing classes, and being sane is nearly impossible to achieve.

Why don't we stand on our head while we're at it, too?

9. In fact, money is probably going to be hard to come by more often than not.

I've got 99 problems and money is just about all of them.

10. Motivation levels steadily decline as the semester goes along.

It's less procrastination than it is exhaustion.

11. Finding time to sleep will never be a simple task.

12-minute midday naps are sometimes the only thing that keep us going.

12. Nights out on campus almost always involve some sort of unnecessary drama.

There are always stories to be told the morning after.

13. Study sessions rarely involve studying.

Getting off track is only natural.

14. But the library is often times louder than you'd like it to be.

Isn't the library supposed to be a quiet place?

15. Even the Wi-Fi is more glitchy on campus than it is at home.

Why even bother anymore?

16. So essentially, you're getting all excited over 4 months of constant stress and misery.

You just got Jam'd... by yourself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
