Fall, as we all know, is the favorite season to many latte lovers, sweater wearers, and candle collectors. As a lover of fall, I have listed sixteen of my favorite things to get me in the mood for fall this year.
1. Bastille - Wild World
Their newest album, released September 9th, is filled with a bunch of chill indie songs perfect for chilly mornings in your dorm cramming in homework or late night hangouts with friends.
2. Halsey - Badlands
Released in August last year, the singer has quickly won the hearts of fans, had a nationwide tour, and sold out Msdison Square Garden. Listen to the album and you’ll understand her huge success.
3. Frank Ocean - Blonde
Released August 20th and long awaited by fans, the album quickly climbed charts and made it onto my fall playlist. Slower R&B vibes, this album is filled with experimentation, creativity, and featured vocals from Beyonce, Kendrick, and more.
4. Panic! At The Disco - Too Weird To Live, Too Young To Die!
Fall, in my opinion, is perfect pop punk time. This album, though less traditionally pop punk, is created by one of the chief bands of the genre and the electronic vibes from the songs along with its upbeat angst feel fittingly fall.
5. The Nightmare Before Christmas
As all Tim Burton movies are, this was a masterpiece. Beautiful claymation that took three years to make as well as an amazing soundtrack, the movie is a perfect mix of whimsy and horror.
6. Halloweentown...actually..the entire series
Disney Channel did some things well, one of them being this entire franchise. As a kid, I always knew it was nearly Halloween when Disney began advertising this again.
7. Hocus Pocus
Another throwback, Hocus Pocus is a classic. Catch the marathon on TV or find it online but it is one of the ultimate Halloween movies and a season without it is a failure. Plus, it offers great halloween costume ideas.
8. Fleece Blankets
A movie night staple, a soft blanket for mid-afternoon napping, common room chilling, or, if you’ve given up completely, to bring to class.
9. Flannels
Cold weather standard, flannels provide the style for all your artsy instagrams and the warmth to actually go out and pose for them.
10. Cool/Quirky Socks
The weather’s getting colder and my feet are always freezing so I have accumulated a large collection of socks, including designs with pineapples, cats, and george washington.
11. Beanies
The ultimate lazy day look, a beanie always makes you look a bit more put together and warms your head.
12. “Stress” Hand Lotion
Fall means midterms and stress and looking forward to thanksgiving break and it also means dry hands. Anti-stress hand lotion is therefore a catch all as it has the scents meant to soothe as well as the nutrients to heal.
13. Fall Scented Candles
Though dorms don’t technically allow candles, one may sneak a candle in anyway, and if they do...it should be one of the Bath & Body Works such as the new vanilla pumpkin marshmallow
14. Tomato Soup
Plagues are passed around during the fall, schools are a center for germs and contagion and when you’re sick nothing is better than tomato soup. Even if you're not sick, it’ll warm you from the inside out.
15. Scones
Fantastic as a breakfast, a snack, a side with tea, scones are a sweet treat that works any time of day. I know my caf has some great options and I always steal some to keep in my dorm.
16. The Pumpkin Spice Latte
No fall list is complete without it, the pumpkin spice latte is the epitome of fall, warm or cold, it’s fantastic to feel perfectly attuned with your shifting surroundings.
