15 Things To Thank Your Older Brother For
Tori DeLisa

If there's one thing I've learned growing up, it's to never take my older brother for granted. Growing up with any sibling is a blessing, but growing up with an older brother makes you look at life differently. There's never a dull moment with you around, and I'm so grateful to have somebody like you to turn to. Thank you for everything you do, you're the best brother any girl could ask for.

1. Thank you for always being honest.

I think the hardest thing to hear is the truth from you because you're always right. When I make a bad decision you're always the first one to tell me what I did probably wasn't a good idea, but I'm grateful for your honesty; because without it I would make the same decision twice.

2. Thank you for forgiving my mistakes.

Whenever I make mistakes you are always there to tell me it's normal. Your personal experience always makes me realize that what I did isn't the end of the world.

3. Thank you for being the first one I turn to.

You're the first person I go to with all of my problems. You never judge what I do, you accept my problems or mistakes. I can always count on you to pick up the phone or text me back whenever I need to talk.

4. Thank you for pushing me to do better.

You always tell me I can achieve whatever I want. Your words motivate me to push myself a little harder, even when I want to give up.

5. Thank you for picking me up after my heart was broken.

You've helped me through the unimaginable, and I'm beyond grateful for that. You're the reason why I was strong during the times I was weak. You always hugged me while I cried, and told me my tears were just temporary.

6. Thank you for being a great role model.

I've always looked up to you. Growing up, I always tried to model my ways around you. You've shown me the definition of love, patience, and kindness.

7. Thank you for having my back.

There have been numerous times where you took the blame for me. I'm sorry for leaving alcohol under your bed, and for throwing a party that one time; but thanks for always backing me up.

8. Thank you for beating me up.

I yelled, cried, and told on you, but all those times you were actually making me stronger. And thanks for letting me win those times my punches didn't actually hurt.

9. Thank you for your strength.

You've shown me what it's like to be strong. I look up to the times where you've used your strength to achieve or recover.

10. Thank you for your patience.

I know I get illogical when we fight sometimes (well so do you), but there was never a time we didn't try and resolve our issues. Whenever I get sad or need to talk, you're always there talking me through things, even if you're busy with something else.

11. Thank you for fighting with me.

I know that may sound weird, but you don't know the meaning of love and family until you've made it through difficult times. Yelling and arguing has made me realize no matter what, you're still my big brother.

12. Thank you for being protective.

You always knew the right times to be protective. When a boy broke my heart, girls were being mean, or when I even tried to talk to a boy. I am lucky to have you as my shield.

13. Thank you for letting me tag along with you.

When I was bored on a Friday night, you and your friends would always let me hang out with you. Whenever you go to the gym or to get food, you always ask if I want to come with you.

14. Thank you for telling me not everybody will like me.

You always tell me as much as I try to be everybody's friend, not everybody wants to be mine. Whenever I was picked on you told me to keep moving forward. And you were right when you said all those people were temporary.

15. Thank you for being my best friend.

Growing up with you has made me understand the true meaning of a best friend. You've taught me many things throughout my life, but one truly important lesson you've taught me is; blood is thicker than water. You will always be there at the end of the day, and I am so lucky to have an older figure like you in my life. Thank you for all you do, I would not be the girl I am today without you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
