Thanksgiving is easily the most underrated holiday out there, maybe next to St. Patrick's Day. Going home is always a tease right before Christmas, but it's always a good break from school and a great way to clear your head before finals. This year there are so many great things to be thankful for -- almost too many to count:
1. Harry Potter Weekends.
They are so bizarre and happen only around the holidays and regardless of how many times you have seen the movies you still watch the whole weekend anyway.
2. Turkey.
The glorious bird that graces us with its presence on this fabulous holiday. It takes much preparation and lots of slaving to get it done in time but it is always the best part of the night.
3. A break to pretend finals don't exist.
I feel like my midterms just ended and now I have to take finals in two weeks? What is this madness? I am just grateful I am able to spend a few days not thinking about all the work I have to do when I get back to school.
4. Twitter.
All the Thanksgiving memes on Twitter are always hilarious and everyone always loves them.
5. Mashed Potatoes.
We have been blessed with mashed potatoes by the heavenly powers above. They are a gift that we must be thankful for and appreciate.
6. Roommates.
As much as I want to go home, my roommates make me want to stay. I don't know what I will do without them over Christmas break.
7. Your mom's fall decorations.
The weird felt turkeys everywhere and the sparkly orange pumpkins and the scented pine cones. Thanksgiving isn't the same without them.
8. Sleeping in for a couple of days before staying up all night for two weeks straight.
You don't have to work and you don't have to go to class, which means you can sleep. Which is convenient because finals are right around the corner and that means no sleep.
9. Gravy.
Who even knows what it's made of? All I know it that I am thankful for it.
10. Sweaters and leggings and boots and scarves.
In my personal opinion, the best types of clothing. They are all soft and warm and cozy and the cutest. They make for great pictures with the falling leaves in the background and an even greater outfit to eat Thanksgiving dinner in.
11. The end of fall drinks and the beginning of Christmas drinks at Starbucks.
Not to hate on the Pumpkin Spice Latte, but the Peppermint Mocha is where it's at.
12. Friends.
Friendsgiving is the perfect time to tell them how thankful you are for them. They are there to support you and always love you and we should all be grateful for that.
13. Family.
Family is there in the same ways and will always be there for you. I can't wait to go home and tell them how much they mean to me.
14. Stuffing.
Who knew bread crumbs and water could be so good? Not me.
15. Thanksgiving in general.
I'm thankful for Thanksgiving.
