2015 was a year of many things. Not only did it bring marriage equality, the discovery of flowing water on Mars, and the "breaking of the Internet" by more than a handful of celebrities; this year also brought some things that shouldn't roll over into the new year:
The Word Bae
I'm not sure who coined this term or what difference there is when the word "babe" does or doesn't have the second "b," but let's stick to words that are actually in the dictionary next year.
Police Brutality
We all saw the news flooded with videos and reports of lives lost this year due to police brutality.
Netflix and Chill
We don't need any more hookup code words to follow our generation into the coming years—lets just drop this one while we still can.
Bad Tinder Pick Up Lines
No one likes to open their Tinder app and see messages with dull sexual pick-up lines waiting for them. Ladies and gents, let's step up our online dating games this year.
Using Hashtags on Facebook
We all have that Facebook friend that uses a paragraph of hashtags after each post. Let's leave the #selfie, #nofilter, and #bored to Instagram.
Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge
Not only is this insanely dangerous for your health, but it's also a really odd way to make a part of you that probably looks awesome already just look awkward.
What Are Those?
I will admit, this was pretty funny for a while. But, again, it's one of those pop culture sayings that doesn't need to see the new year.
GoFundMe Pages That Don't Matter
Yes, I have seen those GoFundMe pages that are titled "Help ****** Buy The Shoes She Wants From The Mall." Not only is that tacky, but c'mon, we could be donating to causes that matter!
Crop Tops
There are so many other things to wear to make you look sexy without showing so much skin.
Minions
I think this one's pretty self-explanatory.
Whip and Nae Nae
Yes, it is OK to do the whip if the song comes on. No, it is not OK to do the whip to every song that comes onto the radio. Can we get some more creative dance moves in 2016?
The Black and Blue or White and Gold Dress
We all remember it—let's leave it in 2015. (Side note, the dress was indeed blue and black.)
Saying "Goals" to Everything
Let's drop this, because we should all be happy with where we are. And if we aren't, that isn't an excuse to post a picture of what you wish your boyfriend would do for you or what you wish your bedroom looked like. Learn to love what you have in 2016.
Selfie Sticks
Can we just go back to the old-fashioned way of taking photos?
Being Judgmental
We've seen so many brave, heroic things happen in 2015. And I'm sure we're about to see many more in the coming year. Let's go into the new year with open minds and open hearts.
