Anyone who finds themself running through airports often or praying their luggage remains under the 50 pound limit can understand these stressful realities.
1. Thinking you allowed yourself enough time to get to the airport but somehow always end up running behind schedule.
You managed to allow enough time to drive from your house to the airport but you didn’t budget time for stopping for a drive through coffee, getting stuck behind someone going 10 under the speed limit in the fast lane, or for circling the parking lot multiple times for a closer spot.
2. Once you arrive you drag your bags to be checked in, managing to break a sweat.
You’re kicking yourself now wondering if you really needed the extra pair of boots and that you could have definitely survived without adding another sweater.
3. The sweating continues while you wait for the desk agents to weigh your luggage. Will it be under the 50-pound limit?
Your mind jumps to your incredibly low bank account and how you’re already hemorrhaging money for this trip. There’s no way you can afford the cost for the heavy baggage on top of the already annoying bag fee.
4. Once you clear the weigh in, you scramble up to security to see a massive line.
There are always children running around in your way, especially during the times you’re in a rush. You once again didn’t budget enough time for that line being so long.
5. Finally getting to the x-ray machines, you manage to get caught behind a family with little kids who make the line the slowest possible one to be in
Glancing around it’s too late to switch lines and you have to take a deep breath and practice your breathing skills. You know you’ll make it to your gate eventually.
6. Time’s ticking and after making it through security you fast hop/walk to the gate while still trying to put on your shoes you previously had to take off.
Why can’t you bring more than 3 ounces of liquid and why is it necessary to take your computer out of your bag? Luckily the x-ray machine didn’t go off this time.
7. At this point you’re full on sweating, beads running down your face.
You’re definitely getting looks from everyone and hoping your deodorant holds up to the claim of all day freshness.
8. As you arrive at your gate they’re calling all those absurd memberships to allow people to board way before you. What does a diamond medallion platinum member even mean?
How does someone even become someone of that importance? And why are you not one?!
9. Finally, your zone gets called and you stand in the massive line to hurry up and wait.
Why are people so pushy and eager to get on the plane to just sit and wait for everyone else to get on? You’re all going to same place and you all have our own seat.
10. Once you come to your seat of course there’s no overhead room so you have to awkwardly squish past people to put your bag way behind you
You better hope your connecting flight isn’t tight because there’s no way you’re going to be able to get back there quickly to grab your bag.
11. As soon as you sit the waiting game begins.
Who is going to be the person who sits next to you? Please not the lady with the crying baby or the man who should have more than one seat. Please let it be someone ordinary.
12. You survived and got a seemingly normal person next to you and quickly put in headphones.
Conversation is nice on the shorter flights but you know how hard it can be to end a talk when you want to relax and sleep. Put those headphones in and let your isle partner know that you are not sharing life stories on this flight.
13. Now the awkward dance of is my elbow going in front of yours or behind yours? Or is the whole armrest yours?
Since you aren’t talking, arms shuffle around trying to find that perfect and comfortable position.
14. The airline preforms their safety demonstration, which you could practically recite, but you pretend to be paying attention anyways.
White lights lead to red lights, ensuring your safety. Keep in mind, the nearest exit may be behind you.
15. The plane taxi’s out and you drift away into your music, embracing the trip you’ve just begun.
Adventure awaits!
