Having a long distance best friend is the best, and the worst. You know you've got someone in your corner no matter how far away they might be, but you so rarely get to see them in person. Sure you spend hours on FaceTime, you send hundreds of texts and you've got an incredibly long Snapchat streak, but nothing really compares to actually being together. Reuniting with your best friend after being apart for months is one of the greatest things ever. Here are 15 stages of reuniting with your long distance best friend.
1. Actually deciding you're going to go
And when and how. There's the official moment when you have legitimate concrete plans to see your best friend.
2. Buying your tickets
Bus, plane, train whatever it takes. Buying tickets is the moment you know it's actually official.
3. Planning
There are so many things you have to do in your little amount of time together. Your schedule is so packed that you are certain that you won't have enough time to actually do all the things you've planned out.
4. The week before
This is the real countdown, you're trying not to jump out of your own skin with excitement.
5. Arriving
There's that moment before you actually see your best friend, but you know you're so close, maybe only a mile away rather than a thousand.
6. Seeing him or her
That moment when you actually see your best friend's face and it's not through a phone or laptop screen. There's something about just seeing them in person when you've spent so long apart.
7. Hugs
This one should really go without saying.
8. More hugs
Honestly, it's been a long time since you've seen them. A lot of hugging is in order.
9. Maybe a little bit of crying
But it's happy crying OK?
10. Having all the adventures
Your schedule is packed. You only have a limited amount of time to accomplish everything you want to before you have to separate again.
11. Meeting their friends
And having to act like you actually don't know very much about them when in fact you've heard so many stories that you actually know some really embarrassing things about them.
12. Just getting to be with your best friend again
Having someone who understands all your inside jokes and who you can walk down memory lane for hours with.
13. Saying, "I've missed you," a lot
Because you never really realize how much you missed someone until you're together again.
14. Saying goodbye
It's heartbreaking and you knew it was going to happen, but did it really have to be so soon?
15. Planning for your next visit
It's going to be amazing and you already can't wait.
