15 Songs You May Remember If You’re a 90s Kid

In This Article:

The 90s was a decade full of nostalgia, particularly for those who grew up in the era. I was one of kids, and I have many fond memories of what came about from the decade, particularly the music. When I hear songs from the 90s playing, it brings me back to the past and hypnotizes with a sweet feeling of nostalgia. There are 15 particular songs that really rewind me back to my childhood. Let’s take look back at them, and be clear, these are not in a particular order.

1. Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) - Green Day (1997)

I was also a fan of Green Day. This song may be the first song I can remember hearing by them along with “When I Come Around”. It’s a very moving song that reminds me of the good ole days.

2. 3 AM - Matchbox Twenty (1997)

Probably my favorite song by Matchboz Twenty, it’s a song recalling his childhood living his mother who was battling cancer. It’s an emotional song that I, nonetheless, have fond memories of listening on the radio.

3. Fantasy - Mariah Carey (1995)

Moving away from alternative rock, why not take a look back at my introduction to Mariah Carey, a singer who I still adore to this day?

4. Everyday Is a Winding Road - Sheryl Crow (1996)

If you remember this song, chances are you may have heard it one of those car commercials numerous times. There are plenty of others by Sheryl Crow I could chose, but this is one I remember the most.

5. No Rain - Blind Melon (1993)

I can’t remember if this band was super popular or not, but you gotta admit, this was a pretty fun and elegant song.

5. One Week - Barenaked Ladies (1998)

Seriously, this song was literally everywhere, and I mean everywhere. I played at restaurants, at stores, at my family gatherings. This just tells you how popular it was back in the day.

7. Larger Than Life - Backstreet Boys (1999)

The Backstreet Boys were like the One Direction of the 90s. They were among the most popular boy bands for the teen crowd.

Semi-Charmed Life - Third Eye Blind (1997)

Oh Third Eye Blind, what an amazing band they were back in the 90s and early 2000s, and this song was quite the charm.

9. Torn - Natalie Imbruglia (1997)

Every time my family gathered at my aunt’s house, this song played on the radio. My family, after all, were big fans of the pop genre.

10. I Knew I Loves You - Savage Garden (1999)

I usually heard this song on the radio when my mom was driving me to school.

11.  Baby One More Time - Britney Spears (1999)

Admit it, you had classmates in elementary school that sang their hearts out, whether it was at lunch, at recess, on the bus, etc.

12. Mambo No. 5 (A Little Bit if You...) - Lou Bega (1999)

Another song that played nearly everywhere you went. But hey, it’s hard to deny it was pretty catchy.

13. Just A Girl - No Doubt (1995)

Not too many rides in the car with my mom or my cousins where this song was blasting, and I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it.

14. Genie in The Bottle - Christina Aguilera (1999)

Another song that popular among my classmates at school. I can also recall having karaoke nights with my family and one of my cousins singing this.

15. I Don’t Want To Wait - Paula Cole (1996)

Players on commercials quite often but not as many as times as I heard playing at a restaurant.

Well, did any of these songs warm you up with some childhood nostalgia? There are dozens of songs I could have chose from, but these ones I found to the most memorable from my days as a young lad.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
