Oh, middle school days! From being Aeropostale clad to begging your parents for a pink Razr, everyone has memories of those awkward days. While most of us have no desire to return to the locker lined halls filled with gossip and drama, we can all agree that the music of our middle school days was awesome. Here's 15 songs that will bring back those middle school memories:
1. Say Goodbye—Chris Brown
Aka, the final song played at every dance, that you probably awkwardly slow danced to.
2. The Great Escape—Boys Like Girls
A catchy song about getting out of a small town. Which was basically everyone's dream at my middle school, hence why I believe people loved it.
3. Year 3000—Jonas Brothers
Let's just admit it, we were in love with the Jonas Brothers at some point. They were cute, their songs were catchy, and they have nice voices. You probably even had a preference towards which brother you liked best (I'm a Joe fan)!
4. Umbrella—Rhianna
Because honestly who doesn't love Rhianna?
5. Hey There Delilah—Plain White T's
"A thousand miles seems pretty far, but they've got planes, and trains, and cars. I'd walk to you if I had no other way" so romantic to a middle schooler who's idea of "dating" is holding hands and talking on the phone.
6. Crank That (Soulja Boy)—Soulja Boy Tell'em
You weren't cool if you didn't know how to Soulja Boy at the middle school dance.
7. I Write Sins Not Tragedies—Panic! At the Disco
"I CHIME IN WITH THE HAVEN'T YOU PEOPLE EVER HEARD OF CLOSING THE GOD**** DOOR" admit it: you screamed this in your head. And in the name of complete honesty I still scream it every time I play this song (which is every time I get into the car).
8. Promiscuous—Nelly Furtado feat. Timbaland
Considering few middle schoolers actually knew what Promiscuous meant, this song was super popular.
9. Thnks Fr Th Mmrs—Fall Out Boy
All I can say about this is it was the inspiration for one of my many AIM screen names.
10. Sexyback—Justin Timberlake
Ugh, Justin Timberlake can bring Sexyback any day he wants.
11. Low—Flo Rida feat. T-Pain
Middle school girls sure loved their Uggs so who wouldn't love a song that mentions the popular "boots with the fur?"
12. Sexy Can I—Ray J and Yung Berg
This was another popular middle school dance song, and after listening to it last week I can safely say that most middle schoolers had no idea what they were singing.
13. So What—P!nk
My original girl power theme song *Cringes at remembering middle school me screaming this every day for months* (thanks for putting up with that Mom and Dad).
14. Unwritten—Natasha Bedingfield
Such a happy upbeat song about being anything you want to be.
15. Shake It—Metro Station
I still listen to this song on a regular basis, and I am not ashamed.
While music comes and goes, your middle school dance anthems are forever!
