Napping has many benefits, and by this I mean health benefits such as relaxation, reduced fatigue, increased alertness, improved mood, and even improved performance, including quicker reaction time and better memory. When we were younger the last thing I wanted to do was take a nap, and now it seems to be the only thing to get us through the whole day. Studies show that if you exercise three-five days a week you are more prone to sleep better throughout the night, however even if I sleep for seven-nine hours... you can bet your butt I'll be squeezing in a nap if I can find the time for one!
1. When you wake up you instantly think of when you can go back to bed.
2. You count how many of hours of sleep you are going to get if you fall asleep now and wake up then.
3.You have learned to sleep with the lights on, and while people talk.
4. You plan your day around your nap or naps.
5. Sometimes you are lying in bed and just accidentally fall asleep because your body just missed your bed that much.
6. No, I'm not sleeping because I'm stressed, or depressed; I'm sleeping because my body needs it.
7. It's never too early for a nap; wake up at 8 a.m., take a nap at 10 a.m.
8. Your motivation for the day is telling yourself that if you get all your stuff done you can get back into bed.
8. You have to set your alarm at ridiculous times of the day; 2:54 p.m., plenty of time to get to class on time.
9. After you run out of snoozes you set a timer for five-ten minutes.
10. You constantly have to send the "Sorry, I was sleeping" text.
11. You keep your blinds closed 24/7 just so it's always the sleeping atmosphere.
12. You can just about fall asleep anywhere.
13. Procrastination naps happen more than they should.
14. Naps help you tolerate people especially on a Monday.
15. You are probably reading this article from bed right now.
Napping is crucial in college... or every day of your life, and is actually quite healthy for you. They say to nap between 20-30 minutes. Even though we all want to take that one-two-hour nap, but if you still plan on being productive later on in the day it is better to take that short snooze then set an alarm so you can still reach the rest of your goals for the day. Sleep is amazing. I could do it all day. You get to do nothing — for hours — and yet it is still so rewarding.
Taking naps sounds so childish. I prefer to call them horizontal life pauses.
