15 Reasons Why Ron Swanson Should Rule The Iron Throne

For more than six and a half seasons the iron throne on the hit series “Game of Thrones” has been the centerpiece and deep-rooted cause for betrayal, death, sabotage and destruction throughout the series. It’s quite beautiful and addicting really. I do not want the series to end but propose a fictitious solution that could potentially bring peace and harmony to the continent of Westeros. Perhaps the greatest television character to exist, Ron Swanson, from the beautiful and eloquent series “Parks and Recreation” has already demonstrated he is up to the task.

1. He has already perfected "the look."

Demonstrating his concentration, intensity, and tough demeanor all in one.

2. He stands by his decisions

He makes a decision and that’s that. No second guessing. No looking back. No discussion.

3. He maintains a healthy, protein-rich diet.

Protein builds muscle. Muscle builds strength. Strength builds leadership. King Ron knows this and devours as much protein as possible.

4. He will feed his people.

It’s been known that Mr. Swanson likes meat. King Ron will be sure to feed his people, but by his standards and via his expertise.

5. He knows his place in the food chain.

This doubles as an intimidation tactic for all that wish to take the iron throne away from him.

6. He has priorities.

Accurate then and now. This transcends time.

7. He strives for efficiency and effectiveness.

Enough said.

8. He will give memorable eulogies.

Inevitably people will die. I mean come on…it’s Game of Thrones. But when they do, songs will be sung over the eloquent and beautiful eulogies King Ron will give.

9. He's all about tough love.

Whether it be with family, politics, or leading armed forces, wimps are not allowed. Iron sharpens iron.

10. He is discrete.

Unlike many in Game of Thrones, King Ron will keep his personal affairs to himself and out of the limelight. This will help quell rumors and keep him focused on what really matters, leading the people of Westeros.

11. He is confident.

Uncertainty shows weakness or vulnerability. King Ron is poised, gritty and firm.

12. He leads with his actions, not his words.

“Actions speak louder than words” is more than just a phrase to King Ron. It’s a way of life. When he does speak, expect it to be short, honest, and with purpose.

13. He is not afraid to say "no."

It is impossible to say yes to every citizen request. Money, time, and resources won’t allow it. King Ron has no problem saying no. In fact, he actually enjoys it.

14. He is a true patriot.

His loyalties are to the country as a whole (Westeros), not a particular kingdom.

15. He will not let the power go to his head.

Anyone ever heard of the Mad King? Joffrey perhaps? This will never happen again.

So maybe this wouldn’t work perfectly. Perhaps it would. Sadly, we will never know. Until then good luck King Tommen Baratheon!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
