You've been looking forward to your vacation for weeks now and as you board your airplane it's finally here. You find your seat, and after about 25 minutes the plane jolts forward and the wheels begin to move. The flight attendant tells you about the flotation device under your seat and where the emergency exits are. The wheels lift off the ground and you're in the air. You have your 7-Up and airplane pretzels, and all you want to do now is fall asleep to get through the next couple hours as fast as possible. After about 30 minutes into the flight you realize you're probably not going to fall asleep, and the only option left is to observe your surroundings. You watch the man two seats away reading a newspaper and the kid across the aisle with Beats on. People you've never seen before all around you. You don't know where these people are coming from or where they're going, but you know they fit one, if not more, of the following characterizations.
1. The smug old man sitting first class with his legs stretched out just far enough to make you mad
2. The over-enthusiastic flight attendant
"Anything I can get you? Pretzels?! Soda?! Anything?!"
3. The person who can't find room for their carry-on in the overhead compartment
Everyone knows him. He's the guy with the bag on wheels and the suite on who forgot to get primary boarding again.
4. The middle-aged man who is way too excited about the Sky Mall magazine
All of the things he never knew he needed.
5. The girl across the aisle from you watching The Notebook on her laptop
For the flights that don't have movie screens the 20 inch laptop screen is your best option for entertainment over the next two hours.
6. The children who never stop screaming
7. The mom trying everything humanly possibly to quiet her kids down
"Here, look honey it's okay I brought goldfish and all of the toys from your room!"
8.The person in front of you whose seat is leaned back as far as possible
Who needs leg room anyways, right?
9. The experienced flyer
Neck pillow, blanket, headphones and sleeping mask all in place and ready for take off.
10. The person who doesn't sit in their assigned seat
If you're assigned the middle seat believe it or not that actually means you have to sit in the middle and NOT by the window. Especially not there actually.
11. The person sitting next to you who just happens to know someone from your hometown
I'm not sure how this always happens, but it does. I swear.
12. The sophisticated old woman in the aisle across from you reading a novel
She's everything you've ever hoped to be - so classy with her reading glasses positioned halfway down her nose and such.
13. The girl behind you obnoxiously chewing gum for the entirety of the flight because it helps her ears from popping
"It's the air pressure!"
14. The person who's almost expecting the plane to crash
"Yeah you know if we crash we'll probably be the first to die since were sitting in the middle of the plane."
15. The person wearing yesterday's clothes, asleep and drooling on the stranger sitting next to them
You to a T.
