It's going to be snowing all week, I get that- but you know.. when that snow turns into rain a couple weeks later, you are all going to want to go and see these new movies out in theaters! With movies like "Fences", "Sing", "Star Wars", "Passengers", "Moana", "Trolls", "La La Land", and more, you won't want to miss ANY of these! That's not all that the entertainment industry has to give us either! If you think these will be the only good movies this year- YOU'RE WRONG! Here are a list of great movies to see in theaters this season!

1. Fences

Fences stars Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. This is actually a famous play that they finally decided this year to make into a movie! I'm personally SUPER excited for this one! Denzel Washington just gives the role of "Troy" a whole new meaning. Almost every theater major is going to go out and see this because it's just a timeless classic. Viola Davis is sure to be great as "Rose", as well! Don't miss this!

2. Trolls

Trolls star Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake. In this movie, Kendrick stars as an overly happy troll. This movie was a big reason why Justin Timberlake's single "Can't Stop the Feeling" became so popular/ With their lovely voices, you won't want to miss this! Great for kids!

3. Sing

Sing is a new Blockbuster to hit theaters this season! Sing is supposedly about a theater that's shutting down, so the owner has this idea of a singing competition involving local singers in the city. All these stories happen through the story and eventually come together during the competition. With actors like Seth MacFarlane, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Hudson, Scarlett Joansson, and more! Another great kids movie!

4. Moana

Moana is Disney's newest princess voiced by Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson. This is a really special new movie because Lin Miranda Manuel (Hamilton the Musical) created the music for it! This movie is about a teenager who wants to save her people!

5. La La

This new movie stars Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, John Legand, and many others. This tells the story of an actress (Stone), and a struggling musician (Gosling) who are trying to make it. This is a modern day musical!

6. Passengers

Passengers is Jennifer Lawrence's new film with costar Chris Pratt! Lawrence and Pratt are on their way to another planet to start a new life. The trip takes them 90 years before they reach their destination. As the two stars try to figure out what's wrong, there may be a little romance in it! Go see it!

7. A Dogs Purpose

This movie is about a dog named Bailey who journeys through several lives to try to find his owner Ethan. "A Dogs Purpose" is a famous novel written by W. Bruce Cameron. He tries to find his purpose. Each new life gave him new lessons to learn. This film stars Josh Gad and several others!

8. The Lego Batman Movie

Batman is trying to save Gotham. When Batman realizes his biggest fear is starting a family, he has to realize Robin (his son) and learn to lighten up a little! This movie seems super funny! Movie star, Will Arnett, is the star in this movie!

9. Beauty And The Beast

This is one I'm actually super excited for. Starring Emma Watson, Beauty and the Beast lovers have known this was coming, but were not too sure if it was "real". Now we know it's real, and YES there will be singing! Coming soon! Live action!

10. Hidden Figures

This is the amazing movie we have all been hearing about about the three brave woman of NASA. This is the story of Katherine G. Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe). This movie is going to be incredible and you won't want to miss it!

11. Fifty Shades Darker

If you have seen "Fifty Shades of Grey" you will really want to see this. This is coming out Valentines Day and starring Dakota Johnson and Hugh Dancy. See this one with a boyfriend!

12. Smurfs: The Lost Village

If you loved the first movie then you're going to love this! Starring Demi Lovato (Smurfette), Rainn Wilson (Gargamel), Joe Manganiello (Hefty), and more. See this!

13. Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

Based on the story by J.K Rowling she tells us a wonderful new story to add to the Harry Potter series! The world realizes that witches live among them. I don't want to give anything out here because I feel like a lot of people would be upset, so your going to have to watch this one yourself!

14. Office Christmas Party

Simply about a big office party that a manager throws to prove his sister wrong. Starring Jennifer Aniston, Kate McKinnon, and Jason Bateman!

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead.
