If you spend any amount of time around me, you quickly learn that my talents include staying up way too late and throwing movie quotes into everyday conversation, whether they fit or not - most of the time they fit, because I’m that good. As such, it is my duty to present you with but a small sampling of some of the best life advice that storytellers – in their various mediums – have presented.

1. “Don’t ever tell me there’s no way!” – Agent Phil Coulson, 'Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'

There will always be people who try to tell you that something is impossible, that you have no other options but "bad" and "worse". When that happens find a way and prove them wrong.

2. “When you can’t run, you crawl. And when you can’t crawl, when you can’t do that…” “You find someone to carry you.” – Tracey & Zoë, 'Firefly'

It’s okay to ask for help. Needing help does not make you weak. It makes you human. You don’t have to go it alone.

3. “I can’t carry it for you, but I can carry you!” – Samwise Gamgee, 'Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King'

Sometimes you can’t fix the issues or heal the hurts of the people you care about. All you can do is help them make it through. Just take their hand and help them bear the burden.

4. “What’s comin’ will come and we’ll meet it when it does.” – Hagrid, 'Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire'

Life happens. Sometimes all you can do is take it a day at a time. Face the battles as they come and don’t let the future encroach too much on the present.

5. “A little adventure, a little rebellion, that’s good. Healthy even!” – Flynn Rider, 'Tangled'

I know, seems like questionable advice, but sometimes you just have to play a little hooky, take a few chances, live your life a little bit. Rules are good, but sometimes you need to let yourself break them, just a little.

6. “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while you could miss it.” – Ferris Bueller, 'Ferris Bueller’s Day Off'

We live in a culture that romanticizes and idolizes the busy but it doesn’t do you any good to pack your schedule so full you can’t enjoy it. Slow down, take it in.

7. “The something Tookish woke up insides him, and he wished to go and see the great mountains, and hear the pine trees, and the waterfalls, and explore the caves, and wear a sword instead of a walking stick.” – J.R.R. Tolkien, 'The Hobbit'

If you don’t have that Tookish feeling from time to time, try and find it. The world is so big and there is so much to see and do. You don’t even have to go far, just get out and go see something.

8. There’s a lot of things you need to get across this universe. Warp drive, wormhole, refractors. You know the thing you need most of all? You need a hand to hold. – The Doctor, 'Doctor Who'

Life is a marginally frightening thing, but you don’t have to face the unknown all alone. Like the Doctor, we all need other people to come alongside us, take us by the hand and say, “I’ll go with you.”

9. “Stop it! We are not going to die! Now both of you will get a grip! Or so help me, I will ground you for a month!” – Elastigirl, 'The Incredibles'

This is what you have to tell yourself on the days when you lose your cool and you are pretty sure you just aren’t going to make it. Just grab a mirror, look yourself in the eye and repeat this to yourself until calm.

10. “One day, you will be old enough to start reading fairy-tales again.” – C.S. Lewis, 'The Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe (Dedication)'

Don’t forget that you are never too old to enjoy a good fairy-tale, or anything else that people might consider “childish”. It’s never wrong to take the time to revert back to childhood, just for a bit.

11. “Education never ends, Watson. It is a series of lessons, with the greatest for the last.” – Sherlock Holmes, 'The Red Circle'

As we go through life we are constantly learning. If we would remembered this more often we’d learn our lessons quicker and avoid having to learn them twice.

12. “What’s the plan?” “Well, it mostly involves not dying.” “I like that plan!” – Roxanne & Megamind, 'Megamind'

Even the best of us can't always have a highly detailed plan. Sometimes you just to hold on tight and fly by the seat of your pants. This is an especially helpful quote come time for finals.

13. “You mock my pain!” “Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something.” – Princess Buttercup & The Man in Black, 'The Princess Bride'

We live in a fallen world. Pain – physical, mental, emotional – is an unfortunate side effect. Don’t let that fact get you down; it is normal to struggle. Life isn’t easy, but it is worth it.

14. “Tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it.” – Anne Shirley, 'Anne of Green Gables'

We mess up. It’s an unfortunate byproduct of being human. Mistakes are made, and often. But each day is a chance to start over and do better. Seize that opportunity!

15. “And these are your only two options? A lab rat or a dancing monkey? You were meant for more than this, you know?” – Peggy Carter, 'Captain America: The First Avenger'

There is an endless list of amazing things you can do and be. Don’t put a limit on yourself, and certainly don’t accept limits forced upon you by others.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
