Until you have a fur baby of your own, you'll never understand the love between a dog and their person. "Man's best friend" doesn't even come close to describing it. A dog is so much more than your friend. They are your baby, your therapist, your vacuum cleaner and your exercise buddy.
Dogs have an unconditional love that only they can give. They'll be by your side through the good times and the bad. They'll always forgive your mistakes and love you through even the worst of days. Despite their love and all around cuteness, dogs can be a serious pain in the butt. But you'd do anything for your baby, including dealing with these 15 things.
1. Finding the perfect spot to pee is of utmost importance.
Yes, it takes a long time but it's totally necessary. I swear. The spot has to be absolutely perfect.
2. This fashion statement:
3. Dog. Hair. Everywhere.
It's inevitable — there will be hair on your couch, your bed, your clothes and even on you. Vacuums and washing machines can only do so much, but it could be worse.
Thankfully, lint rollers are a thing.
4. Never eating in peace.
The sound of opening a bag of chips is more effective than actually calling your dog, but that's okay. Your pup is a foodie at heart and that's just one more thing you have in common.
5. Sleeping with a four-legged bed hog.
Dogs sleep where they want to sleep, so don't be surprised to find them on your bed once again. Not that they have their own comfy (and expensive) bed or anything...
6. Spending way too much money on unnecessary things for your baby.
Is it cute? Is it funny? Your dog totally needs it.
7. Your furry alarm clock has no snooze button.
When it's time for breakfast, pupper will let you know without fail. Good luck sleeping in!
8. Getting your pupper to do their business in the rain.
When you let your dog outside in the rain, one of two things can happen. Either your pup will refuse to even step on the damp ground or they'll be rolling in the puddles.
9. "WHAT'S IN YOUR MOUTH?"
The phrase all dog parents have said at least a hundred times...
10. The way they watch as you leave without them.
It's so hard to resist those sweet doggie eyes, but sometimes you have to. Even if it breaks your heart, at least you can always look forward to coming home to that sweet face and wagging tail.
11. Letting your dog in so they can go back out five minutes later.
It's a never-ending cycle we humans will never understand. Just like they say, the grass is always greener on the other side (of the door).
12. Bathtime.
The struggle is real — or expensive if you take your baby to a groomer.
13. When your doggo doesn't know their own size.
Small dog? Thinks they're a big dog.
Big dog? Thinks they're a lap dog.
14. Making your plans around your pup's schedule.
"I would go out, but I've got to feed my dog."
15. What is privacy?
They'll join you in the bathroom like it's nothing, but when you think about it it really makes sense. You watch them as they do their business when you take them outside, don't you?
