There are a lot of things that our generation is lacking on..good presidential candidates, college and professional teams not getting their act together, and chivalry.
Here are some things I believe, our generation needs to bring back into the relationship point of view...after all, who doesn't like cheesy, adorable relationships?
1. Make romantic gestures like writing poetry or songs.
2. Ask permission for things.
3. Make an effort to dress nicely for a date.
More than likely, girls will shave their legs, do their hair AND makeup, and put on a nice outfit...do not show up in basketball shorts or sweats.
4. Turn off your electronics to just be with the other person.
5. Going dancing that shows respect for yourself and your date, not grinding on a grimy dance floor.
6. Coming to the door to pick someone up instead of texting them or honking the horn.
7. Sending a little message to make sure we got home alright, and actually meaning it.
8. Bring flowers or other tokens of respect and attention to the first date.
9. Be clear about when you are going steady or are in a committed relationship.
10. DO NOT assume that just because you are engaging in a relationship that sex is to be had at any point in time.
11. Giving your coat to a woman when she’s cold, draping it over her shoulders and making sure she’s warm for the walk home.
12. Leaving little notes around for her to find, with simple messages about where you went or simply that you’re thinking of her.
13. Walking on the outside of the sidewalk, especially if it’s rainy and there runs a risk of having a passing car splash you both with gross road water.
14. Hold/open the door.
15. Show respect.
Lesson learned folks. Lesson learned.
