It can be hard to think of unique date ideas for this day of the year because everyone works up Valentine’s Day to be a day that every couple MUST celebrate. So why not do it in a special and memorable way that isn’t too extravagant? Personalize it specific to YOU and YOUR love!
1. Take over the dance floor - go ballroom dancing!
Even if you aren’t good at dancing, make a memory or a fool of yourselves learning how to do the different types of ballroom dances.
2. Go on a quick dinner date and get ice cream afterward at your favorite place!
Although this seems cliche, if you go on a dinner and ice cream date as if it was your first, cracking jokes and laughing all the while, it will be a lot of fun and very special. Be sure to capture those smiles with candid photographs!
3. Skate while holding hands!
Valentine’s Day falls somewhat between seasons, so depending on the weather, go ice skating or roller skating and hold hands to show how much your sweetheart means to you.
4. Explore together or send your sweetie on a scavenger hunt!
Together, take a trip down memory lane, stopping at locations of your fondest memories or where you experienced your ‘firsts’ together. Or send your sweetie on a scavenger hunt with notes at each step of the way to guide them with subtle clues to where you are located.
5. Recreate your first date!
Reliving something that is so significant and special to you brings much joy. Without the first-date jitters this time, you are able to just enjoy one other’s company re-living the first date without the nervousness.
6. Compete and bond with a game night!
Old fashioned board games, card games, video games, or even something as simple as a puzzle.
7. Plan out an entire day together!
Create a schedule of events that will happen throughout the day. It can be hard if you are at school or at work, but make time to spend time with your loved one as your time is the most precious gift of all.
8. Cook a homemade meal at home!
Bring out your inner chef and whip up your favorite dish. Enjoy it with a candlelit place setting decorated with love. For example, if you want to do a picnic theme, use a red blanket with rose petals sprinkled about, white string lights around the blanket, and a fire in the fireplace. Top off the meal with roasted marshmallows and s'mores for dessert.
9. Watch the sunrise, sunset, or gaze at the stars!
There is something spectacular about looking up at the sky at these particular times of days that always puts me in awe. Share this with your love today, and take in the beauty that our world has to offer. Deep conversations are always great to have because thinking in the fresh air is so good and relaxing for the soul PLUS you’re with your SOULmate!!
10. Bake together!
Whatever your sweet tooth desires, bake it. BUT be sure it is in the shape of a heart. This could include brownies, cookies, or cake.
11. Watch a chick flick or Valentine’s Day-themed movie!
Snuggle up with some blankets and ice cream and enjoy a romantic comedy, a Valentine’s Day-themed movie, a chick flick, or a romantic movie.
12. Simple gifts throughout the day!
Have your love wake up to sticky notes on the mirror where they get ready in the morning; have Starbucks waiting for them at school or work; make heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast; write a long Valentine’s Day letter attempting to explain how in love you are; leave random notes throughout the day saying “I love you because…” Just to name a few.
13. Create your own version of Mystery Date!
Fill an envelope with different date ideas, and pull one out at random. You can use any leftovers at a later date! It’s like a never-ending day of love!
14. Build a blanket fort!
Although the idea is childish, you will have so much fun throwing it back to your childhood and building a fort with blankets and sheets. The end reward includes snuggling up in the fort and watching a romantic movie on Netflix. If you really want to get fancy, bring string lights into the fort for mood lighting.
I pray your Valentine’s Day is filled with lots of love and laughter and hugs and kisses! xoxo
