14 Truths About Having a Summer Job
Buzzfed

Summer is no longer a period of no school and swim lessons. You are a college student now, a real adult, and you should probably get a job.

Whether you are home for summer and your parents pester you into finding a job, or you just need some extra money and a resume boost, many of us end up with summer jobs. Finals are over and you think nothing could possibly be worse than more studying, so having a job should be a piece of cake. It only takes a few days to realize you are even busier than you were in school. These are the realities of having a summer job.

1. You have to get back into a normal sleep schedule.

College messed that up big time, and you should definitely not stay up until 3 a.m. watching Netflix if you want to be awake at work the next morning.

2. Your friends want to you hang out all the time, but you can't because you have work.

They don't understand that you no longer have endless time to do everything with them.

3. You see everyone's Snapchat stories and wonder how they have time for so much fun.

How can they be going out? It's a Monday.

4. You run into people from high school at work and on your lunch break.

You aren't sure if you should awkwardly make conversation or pretend you do not see them.

5. Your feet always hurt.

No shoes are comfortable when you have to wear them for eight hours.

6. You have to deal with new situations and problem solve.

Fake it 'til you make it.

7. Unlike certain classes, you can't miss work, ever.

There will be some days where you struggle to get up, but guess what, you're an adult, and you have a job to get to.

8. Your days off are the greatest days in the world, and you aren't sure what to do with yourself.

Should I sleep all day, binge watch Netflix, or actually go outside?

9. You might actually become friends with your coworkers.

Do you like eating pizza after work? Same.

10. You start to feel like a real grown up.

You're taking on the world and contributing to society!

11. When you get in bed at the end of a long work day, you are the happiest you've ever been.

Then you realize you have to do it all again tomorrow.

12. Once you get your paycheck, you remember why it's all worth it.

Dollar dollar bills.

13. Then you have to try to save your money.

But you got those cute shoes and a new TV because you need to treat yourself.

14. But it's really all about the experience.

So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
