As adults, we look back and think on all of the wonderful trends throughout our youth. We played with dolls, ovens, shoes with wheels, cards, and stuffed animals and somehow, they managed to keep us entertained for hours. Although the times have changed and kids look to electronics for entertainment, we seemed to be satisfied with the simplest and strangest things. Even as we grow older, we can look back and appreciate the toys that made us the adults we are today.

1. Silly Bands

They weren’t just rubber bands, they were in all sorts of shapes. We made our parents buy us packets of them and we wore every single one of them on our arms.

2. Beyblades

Nothing better than launching a spinning top to pretend battle your friends.

3. Furby

With their creepy big eyes, beaks, and fluorescent hair, they captured our hearts.

4. Tamagotchi

RIP to all the dead Tamagotchi pets that have been neglected over the years.

5. Slinky’s

I guess it’s safe to say that we were easily entertained as children because letting a metal cylinder fall down the stairs was cool.

6. Easy Bake Oven

Many a delicious and poorly made cakes was baked in the Easy Bake Oven.

7. Heely’s

Around the peak of fifth grade, these shoes with wheels became the best and coolest way to travel around school. Although teachers had to ban the use of wheeling during school hours, you could impress your friends after class.

8. Chokers

Although these were a huge fashion statement in the 90’s, it seems they resurfaced in 2016 as well.

9. Skip-It

What a brilliant idea. Who knew strapping a ball to your ankle would not only entertain kids for hours, but also make you millions?

10. Webkinz

As if snuggling up to a teddy bear wasn’t enough, we had to be able to take care of them online too.

11. Pokémon Cards

Although they were popular to us as children of the 90’s, that love returned to us through Pokémon Go and the real life hunt for Pokémon began

12. Beanie Babies

You had at least 53 Beanie Babies, sometimes even two of the same one. Now, you aren’t sure where your mom has hidden them, but you're sure they’ll make you millions one day as collectables.

13. Walkie Talkies

The only cool way to communicate with someone who was fifteen feet away from you.

14. Fidget Spinners

As dumb as they look, they’ll keep you entertained for hours, even as an adult.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
