I don’t know how many people can relate to it, but if you are as obsessed with makeup as I am, you will know the feeling of walking into Sephora, Ulta, MAC, or any cosmetic aisle. In fact, there are several thoughts that roam inside your little head as you pass by the different eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks, and lip glosses, oh my.
1. “I definitely could get another lipstick. I mean, my other lipsticks are probably in need of a new friend to the group.”
You can never have too many lipsticks. It’s an excuse for you to buy something.
2. “Do I have this exact nude color?”
3. “No, I don’t. This one is clearly a lot darker. I need to rock that Kylie Jenner lip trend, even if it’s $24.”
You start to make up excuses for not having the same color in your collection, so you feel the need to buy another one.
4. “I know I only have $30 dollars in my bank account, so I should probably just put it onto my credit card. I can pay it back later.”
Bad idea, considering how much debt is building up on that lovely piece of plastic. You know you probably won’t be paying it all off until you hit the age of retirement at the rate you're spending.
5. “That new eyeshadow palette is too die for! There’s all these beautiful shades that I clearly don’t have. Plus, it’s soft…like butter. I can’t just walk out of here. It’s limited edition too, meaning I need to buy it. They will never make another one like it!”
When something says limited edition, it means to get it. After all, once it’s sold out, you will never be able to buy it again. You can always sell it on eBay.
6. Looking up YouTube videos to see if it’s worth the money.
You take out your cell phone and watch different reviews to make sure that you should charge it onto your credit card. It better be worth the money!
7. You swatch different colors all over your arm till it looks like a rainbow.
For some reason, the need to see how the colors look against your skin is more important than walking around looking like some colorful striped animal. The things that we do for beauty.
8. You need help, but can’t seem to find anyone to help you.
These floaters in makeup stores greet you when you walk in, asking if you need help. Yet when you do need some assistance, they are literally nowhere to be found.
9. You finally find someone to help you. “They’re going to try to sell me something.”
Somebody decides to come to your rescue and help you figure out what looks best on you, or tries to match the correct foundation shade to your real complexion. They also try to sell you other products, which for some reason you decide to take because they are really good at convincing you that you need that $40 highlighter.
10. Then it’s time to pay at the counter, but you see all the different products in line.
This is quite tempting. After all, some of the products are cheaper and you can give them a try. They are little extras to add into your bag.
11. “They just grabbed a bigger bag for just five items.”
It’s like they waste trees. They probably could afford it with the amount of money they get from selling high-end makeup products.
12. You get home and realize those lipsticks and eyeshadows are literally the same as the other ones that you have, making you slightly kick yourself for spending the money you did at the makeup store.
You shouldn’t have gone and spent all that money after all. You can always return it, but you’re too lazy to try and make a return. “Guess I’ll have backups of the same exact color.”
13. “That lady totally didn’t match me with the correct shade. Aren’t they supposed to be makeup professionals? They can’t even match me correctly. I’ll be looking like an Oompa Loompa in class tomorrow.
Seriously, though? It’s time to rock the Snooki look. She was popular, right? People will just think that I look like her now.
14. You check your social media and find that a friend, or another YouTuber is raving about their new makeup product.
The urge to go back to the makeup store is stronger than ever. The cycle starts all over again.
