14 Things Only Over-Thinkers Will Understand

I really do not know who is to blame here for creating the current generation of over-thinkers. But, me being me and over-thinking everything, I feel like there is definitely someone to blame. I think. Perhaps it is because we are overly sensitive and wickedly smart? Is that why we are so introspective? Hmm I don't know, but whatever. We cool. We cool.

If you are an over-thinker, you might relate to and understand at least one of these things:

1. When we say, "I'm sorry," we mean we are really sorry.

If we feel like we have hurt your feelings, what you didn't see is the hours we spent going over every single detail of our fight. Seriously, rest assured knowing that whether you accept our apology or not, this will not soon be forgotten.

2. We are not insecure control freaks; we just think. A LOT!

I mean you don't have to call or text us back right away when you are out, but just know that our mind is playing out a bunch of horrible scenarios in which you've cheated. Or died. (That could only be the next logical step.) If we called and left a voicemail, we just cannot help but consider that you might not be alive.

3. Our critical thinking skills are pretty on point. (Fleek? Is that still a thing?)

We have mastered the art of interpreting what people really mean by what they say. See my black belt in pointing out BS?

4. But our friends don't seem to appreciate our analytical ninja skills.

They usually say something in regards to "You are soo over-thinking this I can't even," when we proudly tell them that we have figured out what something really meant.

5. Sleep is most likely the most difficult thing in our lives.

Have you ever stayed up until 4AM just because one thought leads to another and all of the sudden you are contemplating the worries of the existence of human life in the future years? Okay, well maybe not, but that sort of scenario happens to us every night. Hello, insomnia!

6. If someone unfollows us on Instagram or Twitter or unfriends us on Facebook, we will definitely not rest to find out who it was and why!

Why don't you love me?!

7. We delete texts, hesitate over writing e-mails and Facebook messages, and delete and re-write tweets.

All because we could and should have said something other than what we did. It takes us forever and a day to write an important message. Okay, basically any message. (Basically me writing this listicle.)

8. When we go out, we can be the life of the party. If the party is authentic and exciting (i.e. has enough alcohol), we can live in the moment.

Well, until the hangover. The next morning we are left in fear of what we could have said to that one person we would rather die than act like an idiot in front of.

9. Of course, any pain in our body leads us imagining the absolute worst case scenario. (Hi, hypochondriac!)

I didn't...did I?

10. We can't let things go easily.

(Probably the truest statement ever made!) We are convinced that if we run over the details a few more times, it will somehow change the outcome and we will uncover some new understanding of the situation, which leads to late nights of laying in bed trying to sleep.

11. We send a lot of screenshots.

We NEED second opinions, here!

12. We actually enjoy a break from our heads.

If someone takes us somewhere stimulating enough that we won't have to be mind-numbingly introspective for once, we will love them forever. Well, you know what I mean.

13. What did they mean by, "I'll see you soon"?

What does "soon" mean? Like soon soon? Or "soon"? We like it when someone makes our lives a little less complicated and tells us straight up what they mean. I mean, we will probably spin it to mean something more, anyways, but it is still nice.

14. If we meet someone that makes us live in the moment, we will hang on to them for life!

Or as long as we possibly can.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
