Sometimes when I'm sad, I like to look at pictures of cute puppies or kittens. This week, I thought I'd share with you what I think are the cutest puppy breeds and cute pictures of them.

1. Bernese Mountain Dog

The Bernese Mountain Dog is a large-sized breed of dog, one of the four breeds of Sennenhund-type dogs from the Swiss Alps.

2. Labrador Retriever

Also known as the Labrador, this dog is a type of retriever-gun dog. The Labrador is one of the most popular breeds of dog in the United Kingdom and the United States.


3. Dalmatian

The Dalmatian is a breed of large dog, noted for its unique black or liver spotted coat and mainly used as a carriage dog in its early days. Its roots trace back to Croatia and its historical region of Dalmatia.

4. Beagle

The Beagle is a breed of small-sized hound, similar in appearance to the much larger foxhound. The Beagle is a scent hound, developed primarily for hunting hare.


5. German Shepherd

The German Shepherd a breed of medium to large-sized working dog that originated in Germany. The German Shepherd is a relatively new breed of dog, with their origin dating to 1899.


6. Golden Retriever

The Golden Retriever is a large-sized breed of dog bred as gun dogs to retrieve shot waterfowl such as ducks and upland game birds during hunting and shooting parties, and were named 'retriever' because of their ability to retrieve shot game undamaged.


7. Saint Bernard

The Saint Bernard is a breed of very large working dog from the western Alps in Switzerland, Italy and France, originally bred at the Great and Little St. Bernard Pass for rescue.


8. Husky

Husky is a general name for a sled-type of dog used in northern regions, differentiated from other sled-dog types by their fast pulling style. They are an ever-changing cross-breed of the fastest dogs.


9. Dachshund

The Dachshund is a short-legged, long-bodied, hound-type dog breed. The standard size dachshund was developed to scent, chase, and flush out burrow-dwelling animals, while the miniature dachshund was bred to hunt smaller prey such as rabbits.


10. Border Collie

The Border Collie is a working and herding dog breed developed in the Anglo-Scottish border region for herding livestock. It was specifically bred for intelligence and obedience.


11. Pit Bull


Pit Bull is the common name for a type of dog. Formal breeds often considered in North America to be of the pit bull type include the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bully, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier.


12. Cocker Spaniel

Cocker Spaniels are dogs belonging to two breeds of the spaniel dog type: the American Cocker Spaniel and the English Cocker Spaniel, both of which are commonly called simply Cocker Spaniel in their countries of origin.


13. American Eskimo

The American Eskimo is a breed of companion dog originating in Germany. The American Eskimo is a member of the Spitz family.


14. Corgi

The Welsh Corgi is a small type of herding dog that originated in Wales. Two separate breeds are recognized: the Pembroke Welsh Corgi and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
