A 13-Year-Old Girl On The Women's March

I couldn't make the March myself, so I got a special correspondent to tell me about it.

Thousands of women marched in support of women's rights after newly elected President Donald Trump's recent inauguration in Washington D.C. on Sunday. One of the attendees of this march was my cousin, Hannah. She went with her mom, her aunt, and a few other older women to support, like so many others, to protest the recent empowerment of a known misogynist who has become the most powerful man in the world. His policies on birth rights, immigration, and climate protection have realized many fears for American citizens that seemed like campaign hyperbole for the past few months. I called Hannah and asked her a few questions about why she marched and, hopefully, to understand this whole mess from someone who's rights hang in the balance.

Interviewer: Why did you march?

Hannah: I marched because of, really, the same reasons other people marched, for women's rights and for rights for other people from other countries because Donald Trump doesn't like people from other countries, which I think is stupid.

I: What about Donald Trump bothers you the most?

H: He's very racist and the one the thing that bothered me specifically is that time when he mocked the disabled reporter, I think. Yeah, I didn't like that. In general, I just don't like him at all.

I: Fair, fair, and he's orange, too, which bothers me.

H: Yes, he's very orange!

I: What was it like marching with your mom and your aunt and other older women?

H: I thought it was really fun to march [with them], but, I also thought it was really cool to see a bunch of different people and different ages and to see signs from older women holding signs saying 'I can't believe we're still marching about this stuff,' which is true.

I: Did you like protesting?

H: Yes, I thought it was very fun and I would do it again.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
