13 Thoughts You Have While Moving Into Your First Apartment
Eduard Militaru

Last week, I experienced my first real "move". I've lived in the same house back home since I was four years old, so I am too young to remember packing up and moving to the house I live in now. But, I just moved into my first apartment and the real reality of moving set in. You never really realize how much stuff you actually have or own until you have to pack it all up and move. Living in the dorms was so much different; you didn't have to fill up an entire apartment, just half a bedroom. Moving, I realized, was one of the most overwhelming experiences you can go through. So many factors play in, such as weather, time, car space, and people to help. Here are 13 thoughts that crossed my mind as I suffered through my first move.

1. "Where did I get this?"

It's like Christmas Day all over again, except this time it's just finding stuff that you already had, you just lost.

2. "Is this going to fit through the doorway?"

Bringing boxes down stairs and through doorways is always something to be cautious about, especially if you're moving breakable items.

3. "How many boxes of decorations do I really need?"

Yes, I'm a basic college girl and I have 3 boxes of painted canvases and sorority paddles, is that a problem?

4. "Why are groceries so expensive?!"

I love food a lot, but is $4 for a bottle of barbecue sauce really worth it?

5. "How should I arrange my new room?"

This is the most stressful part about moving, how do I want to set up my room?

6. "Wait, I don't like this, I need to move the furniture around again."

Being indecisive is seriously the worst thing in the world. Sorry, I'm so overwhelmed, I don't know where I want anything to go.

7. "Why does this dresser not fit all of my clothes?"

I knew I had a lot of clothes, but I had no idea I had this many...

8. "Why did we choose to move on the hottest day of the year?"

I feel like everyone always chooses the worst weather to move in; it's either raining, snowing, or 100 degrees and humidity out of this world.

9. "Thank God I have people to help me."

I could never do this on my own, thank goodness my family loves me enough to help me move.

10. "Just wait until I have to move all of this out..."

Just thinking about moving out is giving me anxiety, and I've only been moved in for five minutes.

11. "Why do I have so much stuff?"

Who knew so much stuff could fit in one little room!

12. "How many car loads of stuff does one person need?"

Three cars full of stuff isn't too much, right?

13. "Thank goodness it's over."

This was the most overwhelmed I've been in awhile, but thank God it's over.

Moving is a stressful time for everyone, but getting to relax in your new place makes it all worth it in the end. You never know what your move might entail, but thank goodness for moving vans, people to help you out, and air-conditioned apartments! If you're moving soon, I wish you the best of luck!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
