13 Things People Allergic to Gluten Hear All the Time

Some of the most annoying questions for the some of the most cuisine-challenged people.

If you're one of those lucky and blessed people who are able to eat all the wonderful foods life has to offer (i.e. bagels, bread, cookies, cake, pizza, beer, etc.), then chances are you you say one of these things daily to someone who is allergic to gluten.

1. “Like what is Gluten, anyway?”

The dreaded question. Having to explain what gluten is can be exhausting. "Found in most flours, so anything that's baked, or has wheat, barley or rye in it." Those words are like a knife to the heart.

2. “I brought back some cookies from home! Do you want some- oh wait."

No matter how good the cookies look, we cannot touch. All we can do is smell all the deliciousness we can't have.

3. “Oh I’m craving some Dunkin. Let's get some donuts!"

Your friends don't always think before they speak about food. Even if it's pretty clear that certain foods have flour in it, they still wave the delicious, sugary glazed 99 cent option in your face.

4. “Wow, I don’t know how you can do it. I would DIE if I couldn’t eat bread.”

We are dying either way. If we eat gluten, it's basically poison for us. And if we don't eat gluten, it's still killing us on the inside.

5. “Lol, I tried to be gluten free once for like a week and it was so bad.”

Couldn't care less. We still can't have a slice of cake at a birthday unless it's GF, and forget about having a cold one at a baseball game. Society hasn't come to their sense yet about providing beer for the gluten challenged.

6. “Can’t you just cheat a little bit? Like how much is one cookie going to hurt you. It can’t be that bad.”

NO. Unless we want to slowly tear our intestines apart and sit on the toilet for an hour, then absolutely not.

7. “Hey do you want to get some pizza with us?”

Seriously? What part of we can't eat bread can't people understand?

8. “What do you miss the most? Bagels? Cookies? Pizza?”

It's true. We miss it all. The cookies, bagels, bread, pizza, cake, bread, brownies, goldfish, bread. Did I mention bread?

9. “What foods are you even able to eat?”

We do have plenty to eat. But let's be honest, we had to cut out a lot of foods from our diet (and probably still are) that we love when we had to go gluten free. Moment of silence for when we could still eat chicken tenders.

10. “But eating gluten-free you probably lose weight, right? Like you’ll be totally skinny.”

It's annoying when people think we benefit weight wise from this kind of diet. I mean we do a little bit, but it sucks. Everybody else can enjoy fresh (*New Jersey) pizza, while we have to eat a plate of vegetables.

11. “So do you eat like a lot of salads then?”

We like to think that we don't eat more salads than the regular person, but in reality, we probably have eaten more caesar salads than the regular person eats in a year. Just without the seasoned croutons. *Retweet if you cried*

12. “We’re going out to eat but I don’t think you can eat anything on the menu there, so.."

We don't like to be shut out from plans with out friends just because the restaurant has a limited menu. Odds are, we can probably find something to eat. If not, there's always drinks.

13. “Well I’ll just eat your bread/ cookie/ slice of cake/ since you can’t have it.”

Just because we can't eat it doesn't mean it's OK for someone else to just eat it. It hurts to look at the freshly baked Italian bread sitting on the table in front of us and NOT be able to eat it. It's even worse when someone takes it away from us.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
