Coming home from college, even just for the weekend, is a fun, interesting and exciting time; you get to see your family, eat a glorious home-cooked meal, and, after a long weekend of parents hovering over your shoulder, realize yet again why you went away for school in the first place. Here are a few realizations every college kid returning home for the weekend will understand.

1. Your bed is the most comfy and amazing place your body will ever rest, and that you are incapable of moving from it. No, seriously. For hours.

2. Showering without shower shoes is oddly satisfying, but also kind of weird. But hey, who cares--you're just happy you can finally sing with no judgement.

3. You completely took your bathtub for granted as a child.

4. Eating a home-cooked meal can be the best thing that happens all week. You (almost) forgot what food that doesn't make you poop twice a day tastes like.

5. You either over-pack or under-pack. There's no healthy medium.

6. And you always, always, always forget something.

7. Hours and hours can be spent petting your dogs, and no matter how long you've been gone, a vigorous apology will ensue for leaving them so abruptly last time. This will soon be followed by an abrupt, emotional goodbye a few days later.

8. Your hairdresser is the only person you will ever trust with your hair. Returning to her is glorious.

9. Trying to go everywhere and see everybody during the short amount of time is mildly stressful when all you want to do is relax.

10. Spending time with family makes you very grateful (even though in the back of your mind you miss being at school. Now you feel guilty about it.)

11. Catching up on all the drama you missed is better than reality TV. "Wait, she did WHAT!?"

12. Your mom actually misses doing your laundry (and if she doesn't do it--hey. At least you don't have to pay for it here!)

13. Saying goodbye to your mom again will be emotional, but you know she's just a phone call away

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
