Hi, my name is Genny, and I am addicted to coffee.
My addiction began junior year of high school during finals week. That wonderful energy boost provided by a deliciously warm beverage was just what I needed during my stressful week of studying and tests, but when the tests were over, I did not want to give up the drink that did so much for me. So here I am, over three years later, starting every day with a nice hot cup of joe and loving every bit of it.
To all my fellow coffee addicts out there, here is a list of some things we all know to be true.
1. You always smell like coffee.
In high school, everyone knew when I was roaming the halls because the scent of coffee followed wherever I went.
2. Your room smells like coffee.
Dorm room, apartment, whatever it may be, the first thing anyone smells when they walk in is coffee.
3. Coffee cures every head ache.
When I'm coffee deprived, just one sip takes the pain away (but I obviously drink more than one sip).
4. Without coffee, yawning thrives.
I'm pretty sure I yawn every 3.5 seconds when I go too long without my daily dose.
5. Watching cream mix with coffee is oh-so satisfying.
Have you ever seen anything more beautiful?
6. When out of coffee, nothing is more important than getting more.
It's basically all you can think about at this point, so you may as well cancel all plans until your coffee cabinet is restocked.
7. Conversation before coffee = a very bad idea.
Just don't do it.
8. You never can have too many coffee mugs.
You can have a different mug for different occasions!
9. Coffee is not only meant for mornings.
Name a time and a place and I will be there.
10. But it does taste fantastic with breakfast food.
Coffee and donuts, coffee and pancakes, coffee and eggs, coffee and bacon, coffee and coffee and coffee and coffee and coffee.
11. The sun may rise without coffee, but you do not.
You may manage to get out of bed, but you're not really going anywhere or doing anything until you've had coffee.
12. Coffee increases productivity.
Can you really be expected to study or work without coffee?
13. Coffee improves your quality of life.
This may only be true for fellow coffee addicts, but hey, at least this addiction isn't totally unhealthy.
