Have you ever heard that phrase that goes something like "classic music will never go out of style?" Yeah, neither have I. Coming from a big Greek family, I go to approximately two weddings a year, which is actually more than some people have gone to their whole lives. Because of this, I've had a lot of exposure to the famed tradition of the couple's "first dance."
As such, I can confidently affirm that no one wants to hear any more Sinatra, Wonder, Presley, or King Cole. We're tired of it. Surprise us! And if not, the Millennial generation sure will.
1. "One Dance"- Drake
For those Millennials who just "don't believe in" the typical slow wedding song for the first dance, this is going to be your next option.
2. "Wonderwall"- Oasis
If someone could please define "Wonderwall" in the comments for me that would be great.
3. "Sparks"- Coldplay
One of Coldplay's super underrated songs, Sparks, came out right at the turn of the century in 2000. Some lyrics you'll love: "But I promise you this/I'll always look out for you/That's what I'll do."
4. "Thinking Out Loud"- Ed Sheeran
Duh.
(Sneak peek of you and your hubby's first dance to this song!)
5. "Then"- Brad Paisley
Can't make a Millennial wedding playlist without throwing in some country, the bane of an urban Millennial's existence.
6. "Make You Feel My Love"- Adele
Adele is the songbird of our generation; you really can't go wrong with her.
7. "If I Ain't Got You"- Alicia Keyes ft. Usher
If you don't play air-piano to the intro of this song whenever it comes on, you're doing something wrong.
8. "You're Beautiful"- James Blunt
Funny enough, James Blunt wrote a song called "2005" that goes something like "All I do is apologize/ for a song ("You're Beautiful") I wrote in 2005."
Check it out:
9. "I'm the One"- Justin Bieber ft. Chance the Rapper
Lol, I'm kidding. Don't dance to this.
10. "Marry Me"- Train
This song is just simply beautiful. Shot dibs for my wedding @katherine!
11. "Love Story"- Taylor Swift
Maybe a little too mainstream for Millennials now but hey, it's still a great song!
12. "Better Together"- Jack Johnson
If you didn't already use this for your Sweet 16 montage, try it out for your wedding.
13. "Adore You"- Miley Cyrus
One of the only good things that came out of Miley's psycho period.
