Being 5'1 (I like to round up) definitely has its perks, like being able to easily weave my way through crowds and wearing heels without feeling like a giant. But if there's one thing that can get on my nerves, it's the comments people make, rather often, about my height. Yes, short jokes are funny from time to time, but after hearing the same ones for a while now, it's getting kind of old. Here are 13 things I'm sure all short girls are tired of hearing:
1. "I didn't realize how short you were!"
The moment you take your heels off, everyone knows the truth. But we get it, we're short.
2. "You're so adorable."
We're always the adorable ones, never the sexy ones.
3. "Can I use you as an armrest? You're just the right height."
No, I am not just a walking
4. When someone jokingly asks,"Do you want me to reach that for you?"
5. "At least you'll always look like you haven't aged. I wish I had a younger looking face."
Maybe, except I still look like I'm 12.
6. When your relatives tell you, "You look so much taller since the last time I saw you."
But actually, you've been this short for a while.
7. "How's the weather down there?"
Just...no.
8. "You're the smallest. You can sit in the middle."
9. Getting carded. At the movie theater. "Are you 17 or older?"
I find this one pretty insulting, seeing as I am finally of legal drinking age.
10. "At least you'll never be taller than the guys you date."
11. "Look, you're shorter than that little kid over there."
Is it really necessary to compare us to extremely tall middle school kids?
12. "Do you still wear kid size shoes?"
So what if I do. They are cheaper anyways.
13. "Standing next to you makes me feel so tall."
Despite many of these annoyances, I'd rather be short than tall any day. But please, let's stop with the stereotypical short jokes. We'd all appreciate it.
