It's the most wonderful time of the year! With Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's all right around the corner the holiday season is finally here. And while the holiday season can be full of stress and consumerism, let's not lose sight of why there is so much joy during the holidays.
1. Good food.
Any college student knows Thanksgiving means lots of leftovers for bringing back. Plus pie. Everyone is required to love pie.
2. Time spent with family.
There's nothing more important than family. No matter how your family celebrates, time spent with them is invaluable.
3. Time spent with friends, old and new.
Whether it's a bar crawl in your hometown with high school besties when everyone's home for break or a Friendsgiving at college, the holidays are about togetherness and spending time with those you love.
4. Watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
From Tom the Turkey until Santa's sleigh, watching the parade is a tradition loved by many. And being in NYC for the parade? Well, that's #lifegoals.
5. Two words: Christmas music.
Nothing better than a Mariah Carey Christmas playlist.
6. Decorating the Christmas tree.
A great holiday tradition full of memories with every ornament unwrapped.
7. Holiday sweater parties.
As if we needed an excuse to break out the sweaters and reindeer antlers.
8. Christmas cookie exchanges.
Family favorites are always amazing, but you might discover a new favorite recipe by exchanging cookies with extended family and friends!
9. Spiked eggnog.
Firm believer in brandy-spiked eggnog, thanks Grandma.
10. Speaking of spiked, hot chocolate.
It's not the holidays without Bailey's in your cocoa after hours spent outside finding the perfect Christmas tree or sledding with the youngsters.
11. ABC's 25 Days of Christmas.
And each and every Christmas movie out there.
12. Making snow angels and building snowmen.
No one can resist, no matter how old you are.
13. New Year's Eve celebrations.
Again, being in NYC for the ball drop is #lifegoals but I'll take a get-together with friends and family any year. No matter which holidays you celebrate, have a wonderful, safe, and memory-filled holiday season full of love and laughter.
