13 Things On Every Pitt Student's Christmas List

With Christmas just days away, broke college students have a lot on their lists. While new clothes and a check from Grandma sound appealing, we Pitt students are wishing for things much more sustainable.

1. More Outlets

We want to see 100 percent on more than just our exams; we want it on our phone battery, too.

2. Consistent Weather

Sandals or snow boots: pick one, Pitt.

3. Escalators up Cardiac Hill

I can’t feel my legs when I’m with you.

4. For people not to steal your seat 13 weeks into the semester

Um, excuse me?

5. Taylor Swift on Spotify

Are we just going to act like the entire "1989" album doesn’t exist?

6. Snow Days

We’re not about the -25 degree wind chill.

7. Reading Days

We want just a few more days to procrastinate.

8. An on-time 10A

Gone would be the days of waiting out in the cold for a bus that never shows up.

9. More bathroom stalls in Hillman

How are we supposed to divvy up three stalls per floor?

10. Or, at least a table in Hillman

Walking around for an hour trying to find one gets old.

11. A caffeine IV

We’ll sleep when we’re dead.

12. To have 8 a.m. classes abolished

Who thought of these?

13. Longer winter break

A two-week break doesn’t leave us nearly enough time to wipe our tears after finals.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
