13 LIfe Lessons From The Gilmore Girls
POPSUGAR

" Gilmore Girls" is one of those iconic shows where you feel completely and totally connected to the characters as if they were one of your people. Lorelai and Rory are complete and total #MomGoals and have taught me everything from heartbreak to the love of books and pizza. I could go on for days about the many things that "Gilmore Girls" has taught me but here are thirteen for now.

1. Love, respect and listen to your Mom.

Though your mom may be obnoxious, hilarious, embarrassing, and outright crazy... she's your mom. Unfortunately, she always has some method to her madness and occasionally she's right. So love her, cherish her, and be thankful for her. After all, you only have one.

2. Coffee is love. Coffee is life.

3. Sometimes, you have to stand up for yourself.

You don't always have to be the nice kid. Speak out and take action, even if it towards your boyfriend's dad. *YAS RORY GET HIM*

4. There is never a bad time to eat pizza and watch movies.

When you're happy, sad, stressed; for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. A good movie and a slice of pizza can be a life saver in times of need.

5. If you work hard, anything is possible.

'Study like Rory Gilmore' should be everyone's motto. She made the statement "dreams don't work unless you do" reality.

6. Love your hometown.

Sometimes you feel like you're trapped or over it but remember all of the amazing ways and amazing people who have shaped you into the wonderful human you are today. If only we could all live in Stars Hollow. *swoon*

7. Reading can be your escape.

Books have the ability to transport you to a different time and place in as little as 2 sentences. If there's anything that Rory has taught me, it's that there is nothing more magical than the smell and feel of a new book.

8. Family may be annoying but it's truly everything.

As nosy as they are and annoying as they may seem, your family is what matters the most. They're the ones who pick you up when you stumble and love you through the lowest of your lows. They'll be around forever so be grateful and tell them how much they mean to you

9. It takes time to find love.

You first boyfriend may not be the love of your life AND THAT'S OKAY. It takes time to get it right. So wallow when it hurts and have stars in your eyes when it's right. Eventually, you'll find the right one.

10. Being you is a blessing so don't change.

Though you may think to yourself that you would be better or cooler if you were someone else, reevaluate. Being you is the best thing you can be and you'll never regret it. Express your inner Lane Kim, babe.

11. You have the ability to change lives.

Regardless of what you think, you can have an impact on someone's life. Just by listening and caring you have the ability to truly change their future outcome. Be the change. Rory turned Jess from ultimate bad boy to loving humanitarian in only a year. Anything is possible.

12. Have a sense of humor.

Sometimes life is going to be awkward and hard, laugh it out. Find the light and be the Lorelai Gilmore of any situation.

13. It's okay to not like people.

You're not going to like everyone or you may just not like anyone. Simple as that.

We've already learned so much but there's only more to come with the release of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
