13 Bible Verses For The Broken, Lonely, And Hopeless
Madison Sweat

Lately, I’ve been feeling broken, lonely, and hopeless. What did I do to deserve this pain? Why can’t I just fix it and have everything go back to normal? Why did God allow this to happen?

I have spent countless hours trying to figure out what I did to deserve this pain. I have tried my hardest to fix what is clearly not worth mending. And I have begged God to give me some answers.

It would be really great if God could reverse time and let me fix this myself, but I don’t see that ever happening. After many attempts to rely on myself, my friends, and my family, the only thing that has remained constant in keeping me sane, is my faith. That’s not to say my friends and family aren’t helping me, but I cannot solely count on them to heal me. They are all fighting their own battles. And I know I'm not doing myself any good at this point, so all I know to do is to ask God for help. My prayers have not been fully answered, but I know with time, God will reply to me. He is doing His will in my life, I just have to trust Him. Which by the way, isn't always easy. So, I have to stop digging myself a bigger hole by trying to make things happen and just wait for His answers. In the meantime, I must rely on God's word to keep my sanity. Here are 13 Bible verses I have been trying to remind myself of in order to have peace while waiting for God to heal me.

1. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

2. "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still." Exodus 14:14

3. "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7

4. "When you go through deep waters, I will be with you." Isaiah 43:2

5. "What we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will reveal to us later." Romans 8:18

6. "This is what the Lord says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you." 2 Kings 20:5

7. "You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in Your Word." Psalm 119:114

8. "Do not fear: I am with you; do not be anxious, I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand." Isaiah 41:10

9. "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5

10. "You can make many plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail." Proverbs 19:21

11. "Your pain has a purpose." Philippians 1:29

12. "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope." Romans 15:13

13. "And so it was... that she, having waited long and endured patiently realized and obtained what God had promised." Hebrews 6:15

I know God has a plan for my life that is much bigger and better than anything I could had planned for myself. God will never hurt me, He will bring me joy, He will heal me, and He will always have my back. I may be brokenhearted now, but with time, God will make this pain worth it. One day I will look back and be eternally grateful for allowing God to do His will in my life. So, keep these verses close to you heart and pray for God to heal you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
