12 Worst Things About The End Of Spring Semester
@karam_y

The end of the school year sucks. Typically, I feel burnt out, I went to spend every sunshiney day outside and (paradoxically) I don't want the semester to end. While there's some great things about the end of the spring semester (ahem, no school work), I honestly think it sucks.

1. Warm weather

UGH. This has got to be the WORST THING!!! Boston sees the sunshine and has warm temperatures typically starting after I leave the city. I love it here but spending 9/12 months where it's mainly jeans and sweater weather?? Kind of annoying. I want to kayak on the Charles!! I want to take a boat cruise!! LET ME ENJOY IT

2. All my friends are graduating

This is stupid and you all should stay.

3. Panic about what to do over the summer

The panic typically starts over winter break and doesn't end until mid-April. Currently, I'm still panicking but things are fine.

4. Registering for classes and housing

Watching the choices for housing slowly disappear every second as well as watching the classes that you chose for the most perfect class schedule disappear is the saddest thing. Everything is wrong and then you're stressed for eternity.

5. Time goes faster

Literally wasn't spring break last week and not two months ago?? How is it mid-April? How are there only 3 weekends left? Did this past week even happen? What have I been doing? I don't think I've had fun in 3 months.

6. Being apart from friends for 4 months

This is mad lame and I think there should be a law that college is forever so my friends don't leave me.

7. Trying to pull an A for a class you're failing out of nowhere

I realized the other week that an exam I bombed was worth 25% of my grade so that's great and I guess I'll just have to laugh through the pain hahahah. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

8. Missing out on events

All the clubs on campus start having their "The Event Of The Year!" and they all coincide on the same dates at the same times and it's also beautiful weather so I'm really just trying to enjoy some Vitamin D, sorry I can't come to your tambourine concert. The summer in Boston is also chock full of crazy cool things to do outside and it's such a bummer to miss out.

9. Moving out

OK, how did I get all these things into my room in one car?? How am I accumulating even more stuff?? Is that possible??

10. Missing all your favorite food places

If you aren't staying at school for the summer, you'll definitely miss all your favorite places (I know I do).

11. Figuring out where your textbooks came from... or where they're located

Did I rent this from Barnes & Noble? Or was that Chegg? Did my Amazon account expire? Did I purchase this book?? I didn't even read this it. I don't even know where it is. How do I return these things??

12. Telling people "let's hang out this summer!" knowing full well you won't

Ah, yes. Hollow promises of "let's go to the beach!" and "let me know if you'll be in the city!!" all are just kind of sad, aren't they?

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
