12 Thoughts You've Had While Living In Crawfordsville

Crawfordsville, the good old 765. If you were born and raised here, you've probably had some thoughts here and there that everyone else has had. Being such a small city, we know everyone and everything that goes down in the Ville. Even though we must admit Crawfordsville isn't the ideal place to live, we still love it for what it is. Here are 12 thoughts you've had while living in Crawfordsville.

1. "I'm bored."

If Crawfordsville could have one slogan, it'd be "Welcome to Crawfordsville, prepare to die of boredom." Of course, Crawfordsville has its good parts, but overall, there's not much to do.

2. "I'm ready for the Strawberry Festival."

The best part of summer is when the whole city comes together for three days of fried foods and music. Don't forget to win a fish at the Boy Scouts booth and piss off your parents! (don't worry they die the next day). There's nothing better than listening to country music while eating cheesecake on a stick.

3. "Wonder when Dari-Licious opens"

One of the best parts of summer in C'ville is going to Dari-Licious. Home of half-price shake day and turtle park. Nothing beats a run to get some delicious ice cream.

4. "I'm dressed like crap, hope I don't see anyone I know."

Guess again. You will most likely see everyone you know while out and about in the Ville.

5. "I'm dressed like crap but it's okay because I'm in Crawfordsville."

An alternative is that, who cares if you look like crap, so does everyone else. The only places you possibly could be going are Walmart or Krogers.

6. "Are we really the meth capital of America?"

Even though I'm not sure this is a legitimate statistic, it's still a fun fact to tell people (or not to tell people)

7. "We should go to Lafayette."

Because why would you want to be in C'ville on a Saturday? Going to a Mall or even a decent restaurant was always a hike up to Lafayette.

8. "North and South have delays, where is ours?"

As an Athenian Alumni, I can relate to this on a personal level. CHS always got the short end of the stick when it came to 2-hour delays.

9. "Why are we getting a new pizza place?"

As much as I love Dominos, did we really need it? On top of Johnny P's, Pizza hut, Little Caesars, Marco's, and Arni's, I think we have enough pizza places. Don't even get me started on the amount of Subways we have.

10. "Little Mexico sounds so good right now."

One gem of the Ville is good old Little Mexico. Land of the Queso and Quesadillas. Probably the best and only Mexican Restaurant in Crawfordsville. Highly recommended if you ever come to Crawfordsville.

11. "I could really go for a Polar Pop right about now."

Nothing is better than heading over to Circle K for a nice 48-ounce Coke. Not to mention it's only 68 cents.

12. "This isn't so bad."

We can say over and over again how much we hate Crawfordsville, but deep down, we actually kind of love it. It's small and boring but it's where we grew up. It's where our friends and family are. With all of its issues, Crawfordsville sticks together in times of need. From burnt down houses to death after death of high school students, we are always there for each other. So even though you may be dying to get out of Crawfordsville forever, you'll never forget the endless memories you made here.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
