Sometimes when you do something that you shouldn't have, its a good idea to apologize. But other times, even though society or some of your peers may want you to apologize, you don't need to and shouldn't apologize. There are some things that you should never have to apologize for. There are tons of things you shouldn't ever have to apologize for but here is a list of twelve of my top things you should never apologize for.
1. Taking time in your busy schedule to focus on yourself.
Though you may be disappointing a couple friends or family members by saying you're busy, sometimes you need to have some time to yourself. Its important for everyone's health. Take a day to yourself and don't apologize for it. You deserve it!
2. Giving your honest opinion (when it's asked for).
Though I believe giving a negative opinion about something someone is doing, wearing, saying, is wrong, giving your honest opinion when it is asked for is something you should never apologize for. If someone asks you to tell them how their outfit looks and you say back and they then go on to get really mad. Don't apologize, they asked for your honest opinion, and you gave it. There is no reason to apologize for being honest.
3. Spending time with people who add to your happiness.
Just because one of your friends doesn't like someone doesn't mean you have to stop being around them. Never apologize for allowing yourself to be around people who make you happy. If someone tries to tell you who you can and can't hang out with and tries to take people who make you happy out of your life, they are not a real friend.
4. Things that you did or things that happened in your past.
Everyone makes mistake, and your past is not something you can change. Your past is what made you who you are today, and you should never have to apologize for your past.
5. Being yourself and having imperfections
There is only one of you in the world. Your individuality and little quirks are what make you, you. You should be proud of that. Everyone has imperfections, Embrace them and never apologize for being yourself.
6. Standing up for what you believe in.
Though standing up for what you believe in may make others angry sometimes, never apologize for believing what you believe and standing up for it.
7. Following your dreams.
Sometimes your family and friends have certain expectations of how they want your future to play out but never apologize for wanting to follow your dreams. Whatever is important to you is what should be important to your loved ones. Always do what makes you happy and never apologize for it.
8. Expressing your emotions.
Sometimes you need to express your emotions. Maybe you're overly excited and happy about something, maybe you're sad, or angry. No matter what you never have to apologize for expressing your emotions.
9. Saying No.
At times, it can seem very difficult to say no to people. But you never need to apologize for saying no. If you don't want to do something and you chose to say no, that is your choice and don't need to apologize for saying it.
10. Ending a toxic relationship.
It can be hard to let people that you truly care about go. But if they are doing you more harm than good, then it's time to let them go. You should never apologize for ending a toxic relationship. Whether it be a friendship or a relationship, you should make sure all of your relationships in your life are making you happier, not bringing you down.
11. For someone else.
Apologizing for someone else is never something that is necessary and never something you should do. Let others be themselves and never apologize for someone embarrassing you or apologize for someone else mistake. That is their own business to do and something you shouldn't.
12. Not knowing all the answers.
In life you won't always be able to know all the answers so don't apologize for not knowing them. Take not knowing an answer as a learning experience. Learn the answer and know the answer the next time!
In life there is a lot you can and should apologize for but sometimes you don't have to and really shouldn't.
Apologize only when you should. If you apologize and go back to your own ways, the apology loses its meaning. Remember to always change your ways once you apologize, or your loved ones will stop forgiving you.
