If you're musically stuck in another generation, you're guaranteed to have heard these

In the modern world of music, the radio stations are filled with overplayed, auto-tuned songs by artists who pay their way to the top. Artists from decades such as the 60s, 70s and 80s wrote raw music that contained relatable emotions. Rock bands had passion for the music they were making rather than a desire for wealth and fame. Classic rock set the basis for other genres, and has influenced pop, indie, alternative, and even rap. Being a teenager whose preference is listening to Jimi Hendrix over Taylor Swift in this generation is a challenge. If you agree with that, then I’m sure you’ve gotten these reactions from people before.

1. Today’s music is better

Are you trying to tell me that songs like "Call Me Maybe" and "Trap Queen" are more meaningful than John Lennon’s "Imagine?"

2. You must do drugs since you’re into this music

Yes, Pink Floyd may be referred to as “stoner music,” but that doesn’t define the entire crowd who enjoys their sound.

3. Aren’t they all dead?

Check your facts. A substantial amount of classic artists have passed, but we still have legends such as Jimmy Page, Pete Townshend and Mick Jagger.

4. They have girl hair

And their “girl hair” is probably more fabulous than yours will ever be.

5. This is their only good song

In fact, Queen sings other popular songs such as "We Are The Champions" and "We Will Rock You" not just "Bohemian Rhapsody."

6. This music is depressing/satanic

There may be some morbid or negative songs, but there is an infinite amount of uplifting ones as well. I'm sure you've all heard Journey's "Don’t Stop Believing" and U2’s "Beautiful Day."

7. Their clothes are hideous

That’s funny, because last time I checked this generation still wears ripped jeans and leather jackets.

8. Can you turn that down?

No, if anything I’m going to turn it up. You have to listen to "Stairway To Heaven" on full blast, that’s just how it goes.

9. Why do you use a record player when you have apple music and pandora?

Have you ever heard the crackle of a vinyl playing? It’s the authenticity that makes for a nostalgic experience.

10. This music is stupid

11. This music is old and weird

No comment, again.

12. Ugh this is what my parents listen to!

One day you will have your own children and they will be saying these words when you put on Justin Bieber.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
