12 Things To Do This Thanksgiving

There’s so much to get excited about. Thanksgiving is only a matter of days away and it’s getting to the point where we can scream “BREAK” (from school, of course). But having a few days to ourselves, before we do any recuperating to just get back into the swing of things, how about some fun, little R&R and, of course, festive or traditional activities? Here are just a few things to expect for putting the spirit into the holidays.

1. Thanksgiving

Of course, the big one. A holiday of appreciation as family and friends gather together is definitely what the day is all about.

2. Baking

Baking is like the right-hand man of the Thanksgiving. You just have to dabble a little…or maybe a lot.

3. The “Feast”

The food is the big player of the day. Those who cook and prepare it are truly the MVPS.

4. Leftovers

With food comes plenty of leftovers. Beats roman noodles any day.

5. Black Friday

Now we can’t forget Black Friday, which is like a holiday of its own as we all gather out in the cold at unearthly hours to spend money.

6. Movies

With every holiday come movies geared towards the day. A soft blanket and bowl of popcorn is all that is really needed. Adding others to watch the movie with or perhaps snuggle up to makes it that much more special.

7. "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving"

When it comes to movies, you can’t forget this classic, an annual watch making an everlasting tradition.

8. Decorate

Get festive. Decorate the house, decorate outside. Turkeys, pumpkins, yellow, orange, red.

9. Get Artsy

What’s a best way to get decorations? Making them of course! You can never be to old to make hand turkeys.

10. Special Visitors

The holidays is at least one time of the year many people get to see each other after being apart for so long. It might be a friend you haven’t seen in ages or maybe Grandma and Grandpa. Regardless who, just be prepared to answer inquiring questions.

11. Christmas Music

Always a debated topic, but it will still be there. So why not start early and do a little jingle.

12. And more leftovers

With all the many things to do, it is not a shock to be hungry. That’s where the extra food definitely comes in handy after the complaining of mom or grandma about not having room. It’s all put to use, right?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
