T-8 days and counting until for what some call the best holiday of the year and others call the worst comes around. No, I'm not talking about St. Patrick's day, but none other than Valentine's Day.

Man, time flies.

Another year where you're still a sad, lonely, single person with no future and ultimate failure surrounding your every day lifestyle... FALSE.

Yes, I bet you thought this was going to be one of those articles bashing the day of love and gagging at every inch of sappiness that floats through the air. Unfortunately, you're wrong. This article is here to give you some great tips on how you can be your best single self and ultimately get through this upcoming February 14th without having a mental breakdown.

1. Treat yo self

It is a-ok to get yourself a little something special on Valentine's day! It's a day of love and you love yourself! You deserve it!

2. Hang out with other single friends

There is just no way in heaven on Earth you are the only single person in your friend group - and if you are - find some single friends for goodness sake!

3. Watch a romantic movie

It's Valentine's day! Throw on that rom-com you've been thinking about for the last few weeks, pop some popcorn, and relax.

4. Or don't watch a romantic movie

The previous piece of advice might not be the best for those undergoing a breakup or those who don't like romantic movies in general! There are too many amazing movies on Netflix to list, so just watch them all.

5. Do whatever you want

Who said singles have to stay in on Valentine's Day? Answer: NO ONE. Who said singles have to go out on Valentine's Day? Answer: NO ONE.

Do what you want boo boo.

6. Do a good deed

Babysit for a couple who's super stressed out and never gets to go out anymore.

7. Eat some candy!

Honestly, have you been to Target lately? Do yourself a favor and just swing by. You won't regret it.

8. Go out!

Go on! Get hammered! Okay maybe not the best decision, but I'm not here to judge you.

9. Don't wallow in self pity

Yes, I know it hurts to be single on Valentine's Day when you super duper don't want to be single, but instead of focusing on the bad, turn it around and remember that your prince charming or princess is out there for you.

10. Be happy for your couple friends

Pretty self explanatory: just because you're sad doesn't mean you have to make other people feel bad.

11. Think of all the money you're saving

Another self explanatory one ;)

12. Love yourself

Valentine's day- the day of love. Whether you believe it or not, you are surrounded by love. Take that love! Love yourself! Be happy with who you are! Love others and never stop spreading the love.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
