Now, I don’t know if any of you have been on a road trip with your family, but I have. I have been on many twelve-hour road trips with my family.

When you think of a road trip, you think; fun, sleeping, singing, eating and making memories.

Well, I am here to tell you, that is not all that it is. There is also, fighting, yelling, getting lost, and crying.

Here are twelve things that happen on a twelve-hour road trip with your family.

1. Sleeping

Between being cramped in the passenger seat, to sprawling out in the backseat, someone always is sleeping. Or pretending to sleep.

2. Eating

Something to pass the time, and something that everyone can enjoy. It keeps you all from talking to each other, so there is no way that you can fight!

3. Talking

There are a lot of discussions happening on a twelve-hour car ride. It is an awesome time for everyone to catch up and just tell stories!

4. Fighting

So eventually, the talking will lead to fighting. I guarantee. The daughter or son will tell a story or make a remark that one of the parents don’t like, and that’s the end of the talking. It will then turn into yelling and everyone is mad and fighting.

5. Getting lost

You are traveling, obviously somewhere far away. You are bound to get lost, sometimes the navigator or navigation system isn’t the best and you miss an exit, or make a wrong turn. It’s okay, it happens to the best of us. Don’t get too worked up.

6. Road RAGE

Alright, so you’re lost now, and the driver has road rage. They are slamming on the brakes, slamming on the steering wheel, and yelling at cars that can’t hear them. This is absolutely no fun for anyone in the car.

7. Pit stops

You must make a stop. The driver needs a break, and someone has to take a leak. You stop at a rest area and walk around, use the restroom, and grab a snack. These five minutes are so peaceful, now back to the car, mom is screaming because she wants to get going.

8. Singing

It is all good, bonding moments while the radio is on. Until, one moment one person in the car doesn’t like the song on, but the other people do. They get so upset and want to song changed. You all just went from screaming the lyrics on the top of your lungs to it being dead silent.

9. FIGHTING

This starts the fighting, AGAIN. Everyone is yelling at each other for another twenty or thirty minutes.

10. Crying

Someone ALWAYS cries. The fighting has stopped, now someone is crying. Why? No one knows, and no one wants to ask. They are normally sitting in the backseat, sobbing and looking out the window.

11. Phones

The kids are playing on their phones and scrolling through their social media newsfeeds. They are snapchatting and beyond bored. The parents are annoyed because the kids are using all of their data and no one is talking.

12. Speeding

It is towards the end of your trip, you want to get where you are going. You have one to two hours left, the driver is tired and annoyed, now you are going ten miles an hour over the speed limit and everyone is back to fighting.

Happy road tripping! 😊

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
