Nobody really likes us except for us

12 Things I Need To Thank My Best Friend For

If one doesn’t realize the importance of a best friend, then they are really missing out. They are the ones to be there for honest feedback and blunt remarks every time you make a crazy decision. They are the ones to stand up for you if anybody were to ever rain on your parade. They are you guardians that watch over you when no one else seems to care. You might fight, you might go days without talking, but in the long run they always end up by your side. When the going gets tough they are there through the thick and the thin to keep you in one piece. They are our fashion critics, motivators, therapists, wing women, and entertainers. Whenever you want to take a spontaneous trip, she is there to join. She is your ultimate lifeline.

1. Thank you for being honest even if it wasn’t what I wanted to hear

The truth hurts sometimes, but there’s something different about it that is rather comforting when it’s coming from your best friend. That’s what builds trust. Even if it was something as simple as, “Take that damn shirt off it’s ugly.”

2. Thank you for making moments that would have been boring extraordinary

Doing the most ordinary things with your favorite person can make them amazing.

3. Thank you for always cheering me up

Anytime I’m around my best friend my mood always increases. Knowing you’re with someone that understands you like the back of their hand just instantly puts you in a better mood.

4. Thank you for always giving me an extra push when I need it

Even if it pertains to a spin class after a hard leg day. You always make me want to push myself to higher extremes.

5. Thank you for being just as weird as I am

If we weren’t both insane and weird we wouldn’t be best friends. Who else would I get to have a dance off to “My Boo” in a kitchen with and belch song lyrics on car rides? To be honest if we had our own TV show it would be a top hit.

6. Thank you for meeting me halfway

Most of the time literally consisting of halfway between where I live and where you live. This can also pertain to finding a compromise when one of us might not want to do something.

7. Thank you for knowing when something is wrong and making it better

Nobody can fool their best friend. Even when you try to lie and say that everything is okay, you know when something is wrong and the solution to fix it.

8. Thank you for tagging me in every crazy meme, picture, or video you see

How else would I get to cry from laughing so hard when we aren’t together?

9. Thank you for always being a phone call, letter, facetime, or text away

Even when I was across the country cut off from the world you always managed to find a way to get a hold of me, even if it was mailing a picture of you looking hilarious when you were five years old to cheer me up when I was having a bad day.

10. Thank you for making time for me

When somebody is important to you there are no lies or excuses when trying to make time to get together.

11. Thank you for taking me into your family as one of your own

I can walk into your house without ringing the doorbell and nobody would ever question it. Your family is my family away from home that is always there to love and support me like their own.

12. Thank you for being you

For everything you are and that you do. I don’t know what I would do without a best friend like you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
