Can't stop on your way to get the necessities? If you're always on the go, and had to perfect the 20-minutes-out-the-door routine, here are some top tips for every emergency.

1. A 'Little' Black Dress

Every wardrobe needs at least one of these. A nice, thin jersey knit one can be shoved into tiny spaces without wrinkling. Accessories can make this into any look.

2. A One Minute Hairdo

A hairdo that can suit any occasion but is still short for time is a must. Requirements: less than a minute, no preparation, and easy. Sometimes, messy is hot.

3. Tide To-Go Stick

These are incredible. I swear by them every time. When the smoothie you’re shoving down your throat gets on your white clothing, this will save you an outfit- and your pride.

4. A Statement Necklace

These must be used with caution, but they turn a 'C' into an 'A+'. A bold, statement necklace can really accentuate the best colors of an outfit, while allowing various looks.

5. An Any-Time Recipe

Forget to buy the groceries needed to make dinner, or about making it? Keep an easy go-to recipe, (*not* just a PB&J) on hand that you’ll always have the ingredients for, with a prep time of under 30 minutes.

6. Fold-Up Flats

These are flats that exist that fit in a bag about the size of your palm. These are great for when you won't have the chance to make it home before that date at that fancy restaurant. Dr. Scholl’s has some called “fast foldable ballet flats”.

7. Belts

Two kinds are required here; waist (the area just below the rib cage) and hip (where your jeans hit). When something doesn't fit quite right but there’s no time to alter it and no time for an alternative, these can be the insurance policy.

8. Hats

Terrible bed head that you can’t pull into a decent ponytail despite all your efforts? Time for a hat you can smash over those ragged locks to turn an awful hair day into a great hat day.

9. A Baggy Sweater

Sometimes, you just don’t need to care. When it’s cold and a casual day, have one that you can toss over your wrinkled pajamas so you won’t embarrass yourself on your one Target trip.

10. A Portable Hairbrush

When your hair becomes quite unruly, fix it quick with a couple strokes of this. Plenty of stores sell ready to go hygiene kits.

11. An *Organized* Purse

If you have to dig around for more than ten seconds for anything, buy some smaller bags to put in it and get that under control.

12. Granola Bars

In a pinch? Snag some and put them in your purse or car. They'll save you when you're waiting that two hour wait.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
