Do you not have the bank account or energy to travel to a tropical destination this spring break? You're not alone! Here are some more affordable and easily accessible destinations if you live in southern Pennsylvania.
1. Travel to the Baltimore Aquarium.
This would be more of a day trip, because there is so much to do in Baltimore! After you're done checking out the aquatic life, hit the Hard Rock Cafe or the mall close by.
2. Visit Ocean City, Maryland in a different season.
This would be another day trip idea. Although most stores on the boardwalk won't be open yet, it would still be enjoyable and relaxing to go and smell the salty air!
3. Make a stop in Intercourse, Pennsylvania.
If you're looking to do something more out of the ordinary, here it is! Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse is a great place to go try new foods and buy some "I <3 Intercourse" souvenirs for you and your friends.
4. Cure your sweet tooth in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
If you have never been here, you need to go immediately! This is the best place to learn how Hershey makes its chocolate. And it smells so good. Did I mention free chocolate?
5. Or hit your salty spot at the Herr's Snack Factory Tour.
This is lesser known to people outside of Lancaster County, but is free and also smells delicious! You get a free bag of chips after you see how their potato chips are made.
6. Discover the Indian Echo Caverns.
If you want to be a little more adventurous, the Indian Echo Caverns are for you! The caverns are naturally breathtaking and transform you to what feels like a new world.
7. Catch a play at the Fulton Opera House.
Right now, "Sister Act" is playing at the Fulton Theatre! The Victorian-style architecture will make you feel like you're in a different era.
8. Check out who is playing at the Chameleon Club.
This is the best place to get live, original music at a great price!
9. Go to a market.
Want fresh produce or baked goods? Go to your local market! You never know what kind of treasures you will find.
10. Explore the city closest to you.
There are many different events that happen in cities everywhere. In Lancaster City, there are tons of small, unique shops and art galleries to check out!
11. See the beautiful Longwood Gardens.
If you're more into the beauty of nature, visit Longwood Gardens as spring approaches.
12. Or, just travel down a back road, enjoy your surroundings and enjoy the week off!
Sometimes, all you need is a familiar place to relax and let loose before you go back to school and finish off the rest of the semester! Go to a park, read a book and walk your pets. Welcome spring with a bang.
Happy Spring Break!
