I wish I could say that every day is a great day and we as people are always happy. To say this though, would be a lie, and sometimes, life completely sucks. Enter, music. Music makes everything better-- even a terrible day, week, or month. To help you the next time you have one of these bad days, I put together a list of twelve of my favorite songs to listen to to put me in a better mood.
1. The Wire - HAIM
I recently listened to this song for the first time and immediately loved it. Upbeat and will definitely make you want to dance.
2. Leather and Lace - Stevie Nicks and Don Henley
Stevie Nicks’ voice has a way of calming me down, and is perfectly paired with Don Henley in this song. Perfect song for a rainy day all snug in bed
3. If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out - Cat Stevens
Just Cat Stevens and his guitar. If you’re looking for a song to make you feel like laying in the grass for hours this is it.
4. Little Lies - Fleetwood Mac
I love anything by Fleetwood Mac, but this song especially has a way of putting me in a better mood no matter why I’m down.
5. Wildflowers - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
This is another one of those songs that makes you just want to be outside. Tom Petty you have my soul.
6. Sister Golden Hair - America
If summer were a song it would be this (and who doesn’t love summer?)
7. Loving You Easy - Zac Brown Band
For all you country music haters out there, reconsider. I hated country music until a few years ago, and now can’t imagine how I went so long without blasting this to lift my mood.
8. Tangled Up In Blue - Bob Dylan
It is always a good idea to listen to Bob Dylan
9. Listen to the Music - The Doobie Brothers
Another song that reminds me of summer. Also perfect for driving with the windows down.
10. Friend of the Devil - The Grateful Dead
For those of you who aren’t huge Dead fans, listen to this song and tell me it doesn’t change your mind.
11. Stuck In The Middle With You - Stealers Wheel
A classic dad song that will give you a weird urge to clap along. Just go with it.
12. Pour Some Sugar On Me - Def Leppard
This one might just be me.
