12 Songs To Get You Through Finals Week
usc.edu

As we all know, finals week is just about the worst week of the semester. It feel likes you have about five minutes to study and prepare for seven exams that are all in about an hour. Finals week is a lot of eight-hour study sessions in the library, and a lot of stir craziness can come with that. If you're anything like me, music is the most important thing that gets you through this week. Whether it's having background noise while looking over every single page of my textbooks or blasting songs during my study breaks to feel a little bit better, music is a great outlet for your mind during finals week. Here are a few random, but great songs to help you get through finals week.

1. "Eye Of The Tiger" by Survivor

An anthem when you need it the most. This throwback jam will be there for you when you need a confidence boost about how great you are going to do on these finals and a bit of motivation. YOU'VE GOT THIS.

2. "What Do You Mean" by Justin Bieber

You really can’t go wrong with this song, no matter the situation. It's perfect for a study break. Blast this song as loud as it can go, have an impromptu duet with the Biebs, and have a bit of a mental break before you go back to studying.

3. "Work" by Rihanna

Here’s a great song to build your confidence. If Rihanna can make a hit without even speaking real words, you can pass your finals. At least you know more for your exam than everyone does about what she’s saying other than “work." Also, this is a great pump up song regardless.

4. "Stressed Out" by Twenty One Pilots

To know you're not the only one "stressed out", play this song to know that even Tyler Joseph feels you.

5. "Born in the U.S.A" by Bruce Springsteen

Good ole Bruce will always make you feel a bit better.

6. "The Rock Show" by blink-182

This may just be a personal favorite, but this song has always pumped me up to get things done for as long as I can remember.

7. "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran

This song is without question one of the most "feel good" songs ever made, so I have no doubt that it will make you feel just a little bit better about finals week.

8. "Best I’ve Ever Had" by Drake

A throwback that never disappoints. A little Drake will help you focus on writing pages and pages of study guides, and validating that you are in fact, the best.

9. "This Is What You Came For" by Calvin Harris ft. Rihanna

Harris’ most recent release has a great beat, and is perfect for focusing while still enjoying what you’re listening to.

10. "LIKE I WOULD" by ZAYN

Nothing like a little bit of ZAYN to get you through an awful study session

11. "I Wanna Be Yours" by Arctic Monkeys

A personal favorite band of mine. This song has such a soothing vibe, it won’t disappoint when trying to focus your mind.

12. "Don’t Stop Believing" by Journey

As impossible as this week feels, and despite how unprepared you feel for all of your exams, you can’t stop believing. Journey said it best, and you don’t argue with Journey.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
