Every state has something that is unique to them. Texas has 80 mile an hour drivers, Florida has people literally living on the beaches, and Oklahoman's have....the five minute weather changes. These are some signs that you just might be from Oklahoma.
1. You use the word Y'all religiously:
Y'all is in each of your sentences at least five times. You refer to either one person or several persons as y'all. That is just how it has always been, and there is no other word to describe multiple people. If you say you all, it just sounds strange.
2. You always have a spare change of clothes with you:
Oklahoma's weather is subject to change almost instantly. It could be rainy one minute, sunny the next, tornadic winds in a second, and then snowing. All in one day. You never know what it is going to be like during the day, so you always keep a pair of clothes in your car in case you get soaking wet, cold, or heat stroke. There is a saying that goes, "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes." This applies to Oklahoma.
3. High School rivalries are real:
If you went to high school in Oklahoma, you know that the rivalries that the school's have is the real deal. Edmond's district even has a game called, Edlam.
4. FFA has been a part of your life in some way:
Granted, not everybody was in FFA, but there is surely somebody in your family that has been involved in it. FFA is a huge thing in Oklahoma, with one of the highest member joining rates in the country.
5. Tornadoes are nothing:
When out of stater's come in and see a tornado, they go and seek shelter. Meanwhile, you are outside sitting on your porch watching the twister.
6. Biscuits and gravy are God sent:
Seriously. Who doesn't love this delicious heavenly food?!
7. Tornadoes have multiple names:
They are called tornadoes, twisters, and 'naders. All have the same meaning....time to crack out the lawn chair!
8. Tulsa is referred to as T-Town:
It just easier to say, "I'm headed to T-Town". Plus, it just sounds cooler.
9. When you say you are headed to "The City," you mean Oklahoma City:
The City is such an interesting place to live and/or visit. So many things to see and do. Myriad Gardens during the holidays, anyone?
10. You own at least one OKC Thunder item:
Some of the die hard fans have an entire closet full of jerseys with every player's name on it.
11. Go Pokes!
This is another normal saying. It basically breaks down to: Pokes= Cowboys = OSU = Stillwater = America's Brightest Orange.
12. Boomer! Sooner!
You can bet your britches that if you hear somebody yell Boomer, there is going to be a resounding Sooner after it.
