We all know when we hit that point in the semester when you just don't think you can go on any longer. It's the point post Spring Break, in the midst of cram weeks, and only a few weeks before summer. You're already gearing up for the concert you have in two weeks, the formal in three, and LDOC (last day of class) only a week after that. You may try to deny your back to school blues after the beach breaks, but we all know each and every one of us are dragging our feet to the end of the semester. We should all just embrace the signs that we are so done with this semester.
1. Chores become more exciting than school work.
That dirty pile of dishes won't clean themselves, and wow I haven't vacuumed since this morning! Better get on that.
2. When you are asked to go out, you start saying yes.
I know I have a paper, three exams, and four meetings this coming week, but it's Friday night! And Saturday afternoon. And Saturday night... but don't worry, I'll take my friends with me, we're all in this together.
3. You lose all ability to complete an assignment in a timely manner.
You just figure the longer you stare at that blank Word document, the more likely the words are to come to you. It doesn't matter that you have had two weeks and an extension period to finish the paper, it still won't be done until the night before.
4. You start to question whether or not you really need that scholarship money.
Of course, the answer is yes, but looking at your current GPA and the scholarship requirements, you like to think it's debatable.
5. Instead of studying, you calculate the lowest possible grade you need on everything.
Sometimes it's not pretty.
6. You talk yourself in to just "winging it."
If it's an intro class, how hard can the test really be? Surprise, a lot worse than you thought.
7. Study breaks become more frequent.
You've already been studying for, like, 15 minutes. That sounds like well deserved Netflix to me.
8. Weekends become less work, more sleep.
Sunday may be a
9. You have lost all motivation.
Not only have you lost all motivation for schoolwork, but it's starting to look like that beach bod is out of your reach too.
10. You have no idea how you are going to make it through another cram week.
Your life has become a constant cycle of "I just have to get through this week." But then the next week rolls around and you're right back at the bottom with no idea how to finish the week.
11. Even your excuses lack motivation.
12. Your friends begin to wonder if this is a permanent state "don't care" for you.
You're still in bed at two in the afternoon and you will probably pull multiple all nighters this week just to get by. But you're still chill.
So here's to all the students with unfinished to-do lists that wear bags under their eyes like accessories. This semester has taken it's toll just like all the others, and as it winds to a stop, so do you. Motivation may be hard to come by, but stay strong, and just keep in mind your scholarships and Dean's List spot instead of summer beaches. We will get through this together.
